the Grade 7 and K students
partici-Pitied in the math.

included three parts which
took'about one and a half
hour to complete. This test
was given to every Grade 7
and 8 Student in the Avon

On May 25. the Grade 7s
visited Tech 21 ITechnoli>gy
.21 , for the last time. It was
our. seventh s 'sit to the
centre. The centre is located
at C•HSS (Central Huron
•Secondary School 1. There
are • about 15 different
> module: in the centre. The
• students go to different
rrujd'ule.s each time. The three
favourite modules were
Child Care. Wood and
Plastics and Computerized
Signs and Engraving. I think
Tech 21 was a great learning
experience for us all.
The Grade 8s went to Tech
,21 on May 24 and it was
• their last visit also.
The students from Grades 5
and down went to the
Literacy -Festival on Tuesday
and Thursday. Some things
they did was talk to an
author.•go to the grandstand.
listen to music. and do things
involving science. Some
comments were •'it was cool"
and "it was fun".
Mrs. Kipfer's Grade 4 class
is currently practicing a play
called "The Tiger Whisker".
It is about a tiger king and
his lubjects who run out of
food on their island. The
king sends out four hornbills
to look for food on the other
islands. One hornbill returns
and tells the king there is an
island full of mouse deer
•nearby. The tigers crossed
over to the island to get some
food. The mouse deer know
the tigers will eat them. so
they devise plan to trick the
tigers into leaving. It works.
and the tigers leave and were
never seen again. This
information was provided by
Esther Armstrong. Mary
Glen and Amanda Bell.
School Track and Field:
On May 20. our school
held its annual track and
field meet. Students
participated in more than 10
different events including
shot put. running long jump
and 100. 200. 400 and 800
metre races. Kathy Glen beat
the,old senior girls softball
throw record throwing -46
metres. •1 cm. and Jeff
Graham was the fastest in the
school taking him only 12.68
seconds to run the 100 m
dash. just .03 seconds behind
the school record. -
