Minor soccer teams chosen and games begin June 9
Minor Soccer is all set to
begin'next week, Wednesday,
June 9 at the Seaforth
Optimist Park. Look in
today's paperfor a list of the
teams.
Junior players (ages 3 - 7)
will play from 6:3010 7:30
p.m. and senior players (8 &
up) will play from 7:30 to
8:30 p.m. If your child is not
listed on a team, please call
the recreation office at 527-
0882 and we will fix the
problem.
Figure skating yard sale
Don't forget to drop into
the Seaforth Figure Skating
Club's Yard Sale at Deb
Wards residence (55 London
Rd., Egmond'ville) on June 5.
Lots of items for sale and
come for a pop and hot dog.
Safety fair
A child safety fair,
sponsored by the, Seaforth
Optimist Club, Seaforth
Agricultural Society,
Seaforth Co-operative
Children's Centre and the
Block. Parent Association
will be held on Sunday, June
6. at the Seaforth AgriPlex
from 1 to 5 p.m.

participating in the bicycle
rodeo must have a bike and
'helmet. To participate in the
"Best Decorated Bike"
contest, children must
decorate their bikes at home.
`Judging will be at 4 p.m.- A
free hot dog and pop will be
given to each participating
child. Don't miss the
excitmcnt.
Senior Shuffleboard
Senior Shuffleboard is held
at the Seaforth and District
Community Centres
• Wednesday afternoons from
1:30 to 4 p.m.. Come out
and enjoy an afternoon of
games wad social.
Shuffleboard was
postponed last week,
therefore no, results arc
available.
Minor hockey registration
Minor Hockey will be
holding registration on June
22 and 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.
each night at the arena.
All registrations must be
done during these two nights.
A late fee of $25 will be
applied after June 23.
Coaching applications
Minor Hockey will also be
accepting coaching
applications, which can be,
picked up at the arena..
Deadline for applications is:
Aug. 11. •
Completed forms can be
mailed (P.O. Box 885.
Seaforth) or dropped off at
the recreation office located
inside the arena or to any
minor hockey executive
member.
In-home child care
The Seaforh Cooperative
Children's Centre will be
offering in-home child care
this summer.
A trained post secondary
student in the child care field
will bring a program to your
home. It will include a
learning circle, crafts, games
and , many , other fun
activities.
Child Care can be booked
in for half days or full days
for up to five children.
Call the centre for more
details at 527-0682.
The children's centre will
also be hosting a Summer
Fun program beginning in
July. Please watch for further.
details.
Tennis lessons
The Seaforth -Recreation
Department will once again
offer tennis lessons during
the summer.
Instructor -Hank Binnendyk
will guide you through the
skills of the game.
Youth beginner will he.
held on Monday mornings
from 10:30. a.m." to noon,
and youth advanced -will be
held from 6:30" to 8 .p.m. on
Monday evenings beginning
July 5.
Adult beginner lessons will
be held on Monday evenings
from, 8 to 9:30 p.m.

match. but almost let it slip
through their fingers in the

gave up seven runs to Hullett
in the top of the inning.

women's
soccer team
beats London
The • St. Columban
women's .soccerteam
defeated the South, End
team from London 2-1 at
its May 26 game.
Early in the first half,
Sarah Stabo scored on a
breakaway. Then. Joanne
Terpstra made a great play
after receiving a beautiful
cross increasing the score to
2-0. South End came back
in the second half to make it
a 2-1 game.
Excellent goaltending by
Melissa Roberts gave, St.
Columban the 2-1 win. • .
Forward Joanne Terpstra
was named the player of the
first half and defence Sally
Chaffe was named player of
the second half.
St. Columban, since the.
team won last year's
division, has moved up to
the. first division this year,
playing more competitive
teams from further away
than last year. So far, Si
Columban has a 1-1 record
this season with a 3-1 loss
to the Sarnia Hornets on
May 16.
The next game is June 6
at St. Columban against
Curinga, from London.
