Resident green thumbs help plant annuals Seaforth Manor Retirement Home Residents have been enjoying the great outdoors as it blooms and flowers into • another colourful spring. Teresa Feeney and Doris Ryan led a group of "green thumbs" in planting some annuals into planters. They stayed to finish, even though it rained on them. Marie'Flynn and the Huron Strings livened our afternoon May 12 with their wonderful •music. Susan Fleming and the baking club baked four delicious. rhubarb pies. Residents gobbled them up quickly. Residents got their spring shopping completed when Geri Fashions came to the.. retirement home May 5.. . Jody Brown got. our "brains buzzing" with "word power and puzzle" activities. 71 students confirmed Sunday St.. Patrick's Church. After the .ceremony. the Family dinner will honor older persons Hensall Community organizations in the Village of Hensall (and area) are hosting a Family Dinner. in conjunction. with ' the International Year of Older Persons. The event is scheduled for .Friday. June •25. • at the Hensall. . Community Centre. Doors open at 5 p.in. with displays available for viewing at this • time;:.entertainment will begin at 5:3Q p.m. . Dinner will be served at 6 .p.m. Following dinner. Pirie Mitchell of the Hensall United Church.will be the guest speaker. Dessert is being provided by Hensall area organizations (Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Carmel Presbyterian Church .. and Hensall United Church). The Hensall and Area Horticultural Society • is participating by planting • centerpieces for the tables. These -will be given away as' • door prizes after the meal. Tickets are available from the Hensall Municipal Office. and organization members. For those in need. transportation can be arranged. by contacting Betty Simmons (262-2106). • The event is intended .to • embrace, the inter- generational goals of the International Year of Older Persons. The Hensall Summer Playground Program•is a recreational program. for ,children aged four to 12 years. The program includes: crafts. games. sports. special events and much more. It will begin July 19. The first two weeks are afternoons only, but beginning Aug. 3 (and through to Aug. 20) the ,program runs 9 a.m.. to 3 p.m. Dublin parishioners adjourned to the church basement where the ladies of the supplied. refreshments.
