Investment Centre mates move
into its new Main Street building

Two recent graduates of the
horticulture program at Guelph
University have oPened a
greenhouse and garden centre
on their mother's farm one and
a quarter miles east of
Seaforth.
Stewart Acres. owned by
sisters Susan Campbell and
Nancy Smith offers trees.
shrubs. flowers. seeds, bulbs.
tools. gardening books and
' some -garden furniture such as
trellises and hatches. -
"We're both well-trained. we
have lots of experience and we
can offer quality advice." says
Campbell, who has worked at
the Royal Botanical Gardens in
Hamilton in the propagation

Seaforth .after talking, to local
atierchants and sports groups
but that report really confirmed
it for me.'' she says:
The three-storey house'on
Goderich-St: will have five,
• bedrooms, -two with ensuite
hathroonis. open to the public
at a range of $50-$65 a night.

-breakfast. Smith, says she's
recently been working on'a
Belgian waffle recipe, to
provide a special 'breakfast rix
'patrons. .
"It's a beautiful house with a•
black marble fireplace and
- original woodwork that's never
been touched all through the .
house." says Smith. •
The kitchen was gutted and
totally remodelled. many
rooms were dry -walled and
Smith did all the deeoratin_, in
'a Vetonan style to match the
character of the house. '-
. Work,had to be done on the
plumbing. the roof and the
brickwork and -the front porch
is being opened up into a
country style porch. The yard
will be Iandscaped,with a Targe
Victorian fountain. graced with
an angel. in the front yard.
"It's been a lot of work.anyl
Bed and breakfast opens
After looking for a' year
throughout Perth and Huron
Counties for a location for her
bed and breakfast Home and
Hearth. Marie Smith chose
Seaforth because it had "the
.nictst old homes around." she -
says. : . •
• The only bed and breakfast in
Seaforth. which will open at
the end of June. is located in
the former home. of Dr. Ed
Malkus. the doctor who
delivered Smith. a Seaforth
native. at her birth.
"We figured that was a really,
neat good luck omen when we
bought this house." she says.
And. Smith says she was.
