Tanis Vander Molen and Mary Finlayson, Grade 8 Sports News:. The- St. James haskethall -teams practised hard ,during recesses and after'school preparing for the zone tournament at St. Anne's. On April 22. at the zone tournament. the boys won . -two of their three games in round robin. They were tied for first and .won the extra• game to break the tie. The .girls won ail of their games. _which immediately put thein in first and were going on to the next tournament with the boys. Both teams •continued practi1 ing'and having exhibition wigs. The girls were going into the tournament undefeated. nApril 27. at the Huron- Perth basketball -tournament.- which took place .at- St. Anne's again. loth teams- had two wins and one los.. They went on ,t field trip to the Lipn's Park watching for. signs of St. James spring and insect lite. They captured some insects and used magnifying glasses•to see them more closely and then returned the insects to where they found them. On Wednesday, they will he. attending.' petting zoo at Fhe Veterinary Clinic. On riday. • they will he entertaining a special lady -in their life (mom. grandma:• Godmother: hahysitter.i in • conjunction with Mother's r Day. Mrs. Hugill's Grade 1 •class has keen busy with picking up garbage; helping -the community and -the _environment by recycling -everything for crafts, scraps of parser. They have been hus'y going to different places'and learning new things! They went to the post Office. hospital. Pizza Train. library. Vincent's. Vanden Hengel's dairy tafm: Lamhton Museum, Lions Park and many more. They are,rbcycling clothes like pants. shirts and dittercnt•clgthes .to make differeN.cratts. Mr.. Ippolito's Grady 4 /went on a little trip earlier this month to "A Slice of Huron"' and each of the children had to complete a' project.. • - The Grade5 class enjoyed attending the annual "Slice - ,of Huron2 exhibits at the Seaforth fairgrounds., The children learned about many farm animals and various other aspects of agriculture.' :It was-. a Wonderful and educational day. Many of the students took their parents to the: exhibit ti on the family night held on April 15 to take a closer look at the exhibits. The .Grade -6 class i. presently "getting into the act with their French skits complete .with props and costumes.
