bowlers win tourney

Congratulations to the two
Seaforth Legion Ladies
Auxiliary teams who came
first and third at the bowling
tournament held here last
week. •
Mitchell,Auxiliary placed
second.
Saturday May 1st the
Legion Duck Race will be
held. After the race there will
be meat draws. horse races
and food available at the
branch.
May 9. Mother's Day, there
will be a Sunday dinner at
the branch. Desserts and help
will be needed for this event.
Also May 8 at 9 a.m. the
qualifying round for the zone
golf tournament will be held
at the Scaforth Golf Club.
Sign up is on the board at the
Legion. Rain date is May
15th.
Thc branch golf
tournament is to be held July
31. Sign on list is at the
branch. The golf club is only
allowing soft spikes on the
course this year.
Spring barbecue is a success
April has been
a busy and
exciting month at
the retirement home. Spirits
are high and smiles arc
many.
Residents and staff
gathered to plan for the
month ahead on April 5 over
donuts and coffee. •
Several ladies have another
quilt almost finished. We all
welcomed hack Barb
Shannon for craft day and
Susan Fleming for baking
club. On April 15. residents
enjoyed the inspiration of the
Seaforth Manor Retirement Home
Hensall Christian Singers.
We hope to see them again
soon.
On April 20. Charlene
Foxton led the birthday
celebration with a crossword
puzzle and spelling bee:
Residents enjoyed Antje.
Veldhuis' favourite lemon
cake afterwards. Theresa
Feeney played ussometunes
on the piano to -complete the
afternoon.
Even though the weather
didn't co-
operate. our
spring
barbecue was a hit.
The Carry On Cloggers are
anticipated on April 30.
The VRC ladies visit us
every'week to sing hymns.
We welcome them back in
the fall.
All community seniors are
invited to our monthly foot
care clinics to be held April

4-H Club learns to comb
their chinchillas for show day
.The fifth and sixth meeting of the
Chinchilla 4-H club was held at Wilkin's
Ranch and the Beres Ranch on April 17. at
9:00 a.m. The meeting started at Joel
Thommas's place in Londestiorough. From
there we got into different vans and drove
down to Wilkins farm and looked at all of
their different chinchillas. While the parents.
were talking we went and looked around
their farm. •
Tim and Matt Wilkin's dad showed us how
to pelt a chinchilla. Some of us watched
while others were in the hack room not
---daring to -look -at the scene.
When that was all done we went (neat at
Mary's Restaurant near the Wilkins. When
es•eryone was done eating we drove to Jenn
• Beres place and looked at their animals.
John led us in the roll call from !peeling
live and meeting six. The roll call from •
meeting tive was "Vs hat colour phaseare
your animals' and the•roll call from meeting
six•w a. "If you were a chinchilla judge what
would you look.for in a show animal." The
most'common answer for meeting five was
dark gray and medium gray. For meeting six
the most common answer. was yellow teeth.
thick fur. big animal, white belly and no fur
missing. We wrote thank.you cards for the
judges who will help on May 1 at 9:15 a.m.
at Walton Hall.
We talked more about colour phases,
combing. sanding. the show day and about
what to bring to the show.
- Ray put on a little demonstration on
combing the chinchillas. Barb told us that we.
haveto comb, our chinchillas when we get
home and on April 28. and on the day of the
show:- --,-- -_ .
We than thanked Dorothy for letting us •
come out to her,chinchilla ranch and for
having the meeting there.. We ended the
meeting with the 4 H motto which is "Learn
to do M doing
The meeting was closed by Tonya and
Amanda. The.next time we will meet is on
. May 1. and that is whcnwc will sell our

A donation of S200 was
committed to the Children's
Aid Society.
Recently at the Zone
Conference, hosted by the
Kinsmen Club of Clinton,
the Kinsmen Club of Hensall
donated $2,000 to the Cystic
Fibrosis Fund.
All members of the branch
and Ladies Auxiliary 55 and
over are encouraged to take
part in the Senior Games
coming up in May. Events

The branch was saddened
to hear of the death of
Comrade Lennie Bloomfield.
veteran of World War Il and
Korea. To his family and
friends we extend our
deepest sympathy.

and in the morning we will
remember them.
