season with dinner
The Legion Ladies
Auxiliary served a delicious
beef and turkey dinner to the
members of the Senior's
Bowling League to celebrate
the end of the '98-'99
season.
The dinner was followed
by the presentation of
awardsto the winning team
and to_ individual bowlers for
their efforts during the year.
Awards included: high

congratulated the seniors for
a successful year and
thanked them for their
support.
A short annual meeting
followed.
The secretary's minutes
were read by Grace Corbett;
the treasurer's report was
given by Charlie Perkins.
The slate of officers for the
upcoming season include:
President. Paul Copeland;
Secretary, Grace Corbett:
Treasurer. Steve Hook.
Steve Hook and Grace
Corbett expressed courtesy
remarks to thank last year's
executive and those that are
retiring from their offices.
The meeting adjourned with
ninetables of euchre. Prizes
were awarded to winners.
Looking forward to seeing
the seniors back bowling in
September.
Michael Ash will be
principal at Seaforth
� high school
The Avon Maitland District School Board announced
promotions and transfers of its principals and vice -
principals last week.
Michael Ash will be promoted from .his position as
vice-principal at Bluewater Secondary School, Distance
Education to become the new principal at Seaforth
DistrictIligh School.
DougTratley will be promoted from vice-principal at
Stratford Northwestern Secondary School to principal at
Listowel District Secondary School.
Patrick Moore, principal at Delores D. Echum
Composite School in Moose Factory will move to
become principal at St. Marys' District Collegiate and
Vocational Insititute.
Rob Parr. vice-principal at Seaforth District High
School will be transferred to become vice-principal at
Bluewater Secondary School. .
Andy Werner, a department head at Stratford
Northwestern Secondary School will become vice-
principal -at Stratford Northwestern. •
Tom Craig, a department head at Goderich District
Collegiate Institute will be promoted to become vice-
principal at FE Madill Secondary School in Wingham.
All placements take effect for the 1999-2000 school
year.

abuse and to raise public

help raise funds for their
continued work.

will he held on Saturday.
April 24 .at'the Knights of
Coltiinhus •Hall in
Goderich.
As in past 'ears. this
event promises to provide
an evening of great
entertainment. lige music.
door prizes. delicious hot
-and cold hors d'oeuvres
and great buys at the dream
auction and silent auction -
tables.' =
: The Teddy Bear Dream
Auction is like a huge
financial bear hug for the-
children
he children of Huron County
and has raised tens- of
thousands of dollars which
is used locally for child -
abuse prevention work.
The event gets under way
.at 6:30,p.m.'with Silent
Auction viewing. A
selection of appetizers and
wines will be served and
musical entertainmentwill
he provided by Phil Main
of Wingham. Phil. has a
broad repertoire of songs
including pop. country and
-gospel He's recorded two
albums and is a popular
performer. in addition to
his "day. job" as morning
man on CKNX-FM.
Special entertainment at
the Dream auction will
also be provided, .by
Dufflebag Theatre.

The Community Child Abuse
Co-ordinating Committee is
a. non-prottt corporation that
is 'dedicated to helping the
'.people of Huron County
,work together to solve the
problem of child abuse.
One of the most visible. and
successful, efforts of the
coinmittee is the Kids on the
Block Child'. ' Abuse
Prevention Program. This.has
become a regular event in.
Huron County. performed for
Grade 3 and 4 classes. it has
reached more than 1.200
--,_uudcnts.. each year_since..
1991. Special performances
are also given to youth
groups. service clubs and
church groups.'
The program began in 1987
by a small hut dedicated
group. The first three years
were funded by the Trillium
Foundation. Since that time.
the program has been funded
by the community,
specifically with the Teddy
Bear Dream Auction, raffles.
individual and service.club
donations.
In 1997 two new programs
.were added to the repertoire;
Cerebal Palsy and Learning
Disabilities. these
presentations area suitable for
Grades 2 through 6.
Puppeteers receive training in
puppetry; skills and child
abuse issues.
