WESTAWAY: Rene Ross (nee
Patrick) The family announces with
sorrow the death of Rena Ross
Westaway, after a shod illness. on
Tuesday, April 6. 1999 at. St.
Joseph's Hospital. at the age of 90
Beloved wife of Charles Westaway,
predeceased. Loving mother of Ken
and wife Peggy of Sudbury, Mary
and husband Dirk Vanderzwaag of
Hamilton Cherished grandmother
Of Bruce. Michelle, Ian. Carolyn and
Kenneth Great grandmother of
Charlie. Angela. Vince. Nick and
• )(notion. Ross was a longtime mem-
ber of Central Presbyterian Church
Her niator interests were her
church. her family and her many
friends She is survived by her dear
sister Margaret. her brothers.
Donald. Robert and Jack. The fami-
ly received friends at the
Swackhamer. Blachford 8 Wray
Funeral Home , on Wed: from 2-4
and 7-9. A funeral service was held
at Central Presbyterian Church.
Interment. Woodland Cemetery: As
expressions of sympathy donations

TATE, Helen: Died suddenly and
peacefully in Dearborn Hospital in
her 9401 year. She was the (laugh-
: ter of the late John McMann and
Annie Eckert. She was .born ,n
. Seaforth and grew up et the
Baynham farts lust east of Seaforth.
She left at the age of seventeen to
train for a nurse in Detroit. some-
thing that she continued for 62
years. She was the beloved, mother
of Richard Jr and his •rite Ireta. and
- 61 Michael Jack Tate. the grand-
mother of Richard 111 and of James
Randall Tate and 10 great grand-
. Children. Also -surviving are two sis-
• ters Emily tMcMannm -+cyt and
Florence (McMann) Spizzirn. The
funeral was held on March 19.-1999
in Dearborn. Michigan. 32.16x1

Survey will help find resting place
of 124 buried near Huonview

A survey being conducted
behind the county's Health
and Library Complex will
reveal where at least 124
Huron County residents were
laid to rest. •
Interest in the old
graveyard .arose late last year
when a cairn marking the
resting place of those who
lived in what was then known
as the House of Refuge was
.levelled. While the carved
stones listing. the names of
those- buried behind the Old
'Huronview are.' to be moved
inside the new Huronview in
memory of early county
residents. a group called the
Stone Angels has been
working to ensure the burial
ground itself is recognized. -
It is the work of the Stone
Angels , with - county .
representatives- that will now
result in the • original
boundaries of the graveyard.

It's funny it comes out to the
bottom of each plaque in each
case." he said: '
-When- we discover the
limits of where the outermost
-graves are. it will give us the
size and shape" of the
graveyard.... Thompson
stated.: - -
Noting that the burials
were with simple cnttin-rinl�
graves. with coffins made on
the premises of the House of
Refuge. he said. "The `space
allotted for hunal is assumed
to be the absolute minimum,

conducted. and stakes are
placed to mark the penmeter
of the graveyard. Thompson
Said the county will then have
to decide on erecting an
appropriate boundary.
