More than 50 volunteers honored
at Queensway appreciation dinner
The highlight of our week was the
volunteer appreciation party held April 15.
More than fifty volunteers attended to hear
speaker Gerry McComb talk about his
experiences as a volunteer.
He said. "People don't care what you know,
until they know that you care. A successful
volunteer must care." He also asked his
audience why they volunteer and what their
most memorable volunteer experience was.
Thos attending represented churches.
- service clubs: the Hensall Legion Ladies
Atixiliary. choirs, hands. singing groups.
• friendly visitors. pastoral support. meals on
wheels drivers.. dancers, and volunteer
auxiliary members. A time of refreshments
and \!siting followed our speaker: \.• .
National Volunteer. Week is April 18 'to 24
and although we appreciate -our volunteers
every day. it is good to set aside a time to
provide some recognition for the countless
hours they give. to bring pleasure to our
residents. - -
The Presbyterian ladies provided assistance
and prizes. it pingo Monday .tttcrni►un and
drew a good crowd of pingo players.

afternoon with Belva Fuss as organist and
Marg Cote assisting residents.
Baking group stirred up several hatches of
raisin scones and cheese scones Wednesday
afternoon with supervision. from Joyce
Bremer, co-op student. Several taste tests
were needed.beforc everyone could make up
their mind which kind they preferred.
Carol LcBeau on the keyboard and. Bill
Pepper with his violin entertained a good
crowd Friday evening at the twice monthly
Friendship Friday in the retirement home
lounge. '
Residents also benefited -froom tun and
fitness. visiting. manicures and library time
throughout the week. . .

Healthy Eaters 4-H club was
held on April 6 at the
VaildenHovens. We chose

The 4th meeting of the
• Huron County Machinery
Club was held on April 5 at
Hyde Brothers in- Hensall:
Everyone stood for the 4-H
pledge and the secretary read
the minutes from the last
meeting: Allan then passed
out a test from last meeting.
Terry then asked everyone on
what kind of farm we live.
We -then talked about depth..
accuracy and appropriate
• speed lora seed-drill.--Wealso
talked about harrows. closing
' wheels and maintenance of
seed drills. Terry .also
explained some safety
features on seed drills. -We
discussed reflective tape and
what colours it should he.
Then he explained tractor
safety and maintenance . The
meeting ended with pop and
pizza.' The next meeting is at
Logan's Farm Equipment in
Bornholm. -

meeting and Gcrda read the
roll call. The leaders asked us
what healthy snacks arc and.
we read a note from the book
led by Helen Van Bakel. We
worked on two different
sheets and then made carrot
muffins. We then judged
carrots. bread. granola bars,
salsa. peanut butter and
crackers. We ate .the carrot
muffins with peach juice.
The next meeting will he at
the VandenHovens in
Seaforth.
The fourth meeting of the
Mighty Munchers was held
on Tuesday. April 13. -We got
everything ready fot pizza

answered .it. We talked about
what time of the day is hest
for shopping and why. We
