More than fifty volunteers attended to hear speaker Gerry McComb talk about his experiences as a volunteer. He said. "People don't care what you know, until they know that you care. A successful volunteer must care." He also asked his audience why they volunteer and what their most memorable volunteer experience was. Thos attending represented churches. - service clubs: the Hensall Legion Ladies Atixiliary. choirs, hands. singing groups. • friendly visitors. pastoral support. meals on wheels drivers.. dancers, and volunteer auxiliary members. A time of refreshments and \!siting followed our speaker: \.• . National Volunteer. Terry then asked everyone on what kind of farm we live. We -then talked about depth.. accuracy and appropriate • speed lora seed-drill.--Wealso talked about harrows. closing ' wheels and maintenance of seed drills. Terry .also explained some safety features on seed drills. -We discussed reflective tape and what colours it should he. Then he explained tractor safety and maintenance . The meeting ended with pop and pizza.' Lindsey McClure read the minutes from the last meeting and Gcrda read the roll call. The leaders asked us what healthy snacks arc and. we read a note from the book led by Helen Van Bakel. We worked on two different sheets and then made carrot muffins. We then judged carrots. bread. granola bars, salsa. peanut butter and crackers. We ate .the carrot muffins with peach juice. The next meeting will he at the VandenHovens in Seaforth. The fourth meeting of the Mighty Munchers was held on Tuesday. April 13. -We got everything ready fot pizza We +.ere going to.m'akc.
