Ryan Winnipeg,' is serving as an observer with the Canadian Forces for the U.N. at the Golan Heights. Israel. In a telephone conversation with his parents, Ron and Mary Ryan, he reports that the weather has been springlike with the hillsides starting to green up. The altitude there is about 1500 metres higher than in Winnipeg. He reports that the countryside is very , picturesque. They were given a tour of the area around Nazareth and the Sca of Galilee. The arca has many shrines, churches and places of religious interest. The biggest surprise to him was Capernaum,. which he said was not as big as St. Columban, with only two. fishing boats there on the Sea . of Galilee. Of great interest was a 2000 year old fishing boat which had been raised out of the sea. The Mount of the Beatitudes is also near the Sea of Galilee here. The biggest danger at this time are the land mines.
