school know how to beat
those winter blues! A winter
carnival was held at the
. school 'this past Friday
afterncx►n.
Jennifer Ingratta, who is
the French teacher for the
grade four to grade eight
classes. organised the event.
The aim, as ,part of their
French course. is to promote
'awareness: of the French
culture' while they arc
studying the language. In
Quebec.. the big winter
carnival ended on Shrove
Tuesday. The students study
the history and culture. The
classes made up 20 teams
.who --participated in 10
events. While the events
were held indoors, they were
similar to those held at the

Bonspiel raises $1,700
for. Heart and Stroke
• A Febrtary 13 curling bonspiel raised $1.700 for the
local chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
February' 'is Heart and/Stroke Month'"and the bonspiel
was Bart of efforts:to raise" funds and awareness in'theme
cotninunitly, Attlag,`was raised at Town Hall. which`will
t1ti_ all month, and a soup luncheon. was' also held.
At the honspieL Scaforth Manor,was the first place
train, Out of eight who ,joined the -event, collecting
pledges to take part. The other teams Were independent
tamilicy.
We exceeded last year's total. We were quite happy
with that." said Nancy Hak. an organvicer of the event.

had a 'olunteer come to the door but would like to donate
