The Huron Expositor, 1999-02-24, Page 1010 -THE HURON EXPOSITOR, February 24, 1882 Students at St. . Columban School took part in their own versions of Bonhomme Carnaval (Quebec Winter Carnival) which concluded last week. On Friday, students took part in classroom events that replicated some of the activities from Carnaval, which they were studying in their French classes. (Above, Stacey Van Roessel has her face painted with carnival images by Laura McDougall. (right) Janelle Verhoeve competes in "La'tourse de Raquette", better known as snowshoes (but pieces of carpet had to simulate those due to the absence of snow). (below, left) a tricycle race was held in the gymnasium while (right)Denise McClure comes out from a relay held in a tunnel of desks and Kelly Cronin and Peter Bos work with their team to create a snow sculpture from soap.
