Two new officers
on patrol in Seaforth
Two new police officers
have joined the ranks of t¢e
Seaforth patrol.
Constable Kevin
Babington replaces retired
officer Art Burt, wh6 left
Seaforth this fall.
Babington has been with
the OPP for 17 years
working at Blenheim.
Ridgetown, Belle River and
Chatham.
He was in Chatham when
restructuring lead to Kent
County choosing to switch to
a regional police service.
Babington wanted to stay
with the OPP and chose
Seaforth as his new posting.
"I came up and visited the
area and said this is where
I'd like to go.;' he said:
Most of his experience has
been for municipal offices
and he prepares that type of
policing. r ,
He lives in the Goderich
arca with his wife, Lori and
1 l -year-old son, Tim.

Babington came to
Seaforth late last year.
Arriving last week was
Constable Nigel Tilley.
He replaces Karie Robins
who has transferred to the
Guelph police department.
Tilley joined the OPP in
1979 serving north of
Kingston for five years
before, spending eight in
,special services doing.
undercover work in areas
like drug enforcement.
He spent a year in gaming
and one -and -a -half years
flying an OPP twin otter on a
north east patrol at the top of
James Bay.
He left the OPP for three
years, doing flying in British
Columbia, before returning
+to the Goderich provincial
office two years ago.
He worked fol' the new

year before accepting a new
posting in Seaforth.

early Saturday morning.
A 1991 red Ford Explorer
was reported stolen from
Victoria Street in
Egmondville during the late
morning hours. It was
recovered a few blocks away
a short time later.
A 1995 purple Chev
Cavalier was taken
sometime around 4 a.m.
from a Side Street apartment
parking lot in Seaforth and
recovered later on
Concession I of McKillop
Township.
Driver's window smashed
The driver's window of a
1988 Ford Escort was
smashed and the vehicle
ransacked last Saturday at
3:30 a.m. in a parking 19t
just off 'of Main Street,'
Seaforth.

Bayfield man has heart
attack, strikes
Egmondville tree
Sixty -two-year-old Alan
Twamley, of Bayfield
suffered a heart attack and
struck a tree while driving
southbound on London Road
in Egmondville last Monday
at about 5:45 p.m.
He was transported to

Thefts from three unlocked
vehicles in Seaforth were
reported last week to Huron
OPP.
A Polaroid camera and a

were taken from a vehicle on
George Street, cash and a
gold wedding band were
taken from a vehicle left in
the parking lot next to the
railway tracks at the
Seaforth Creamery and a
Cantel cell phone Model
#IC18820 with serial
number #E007C991 was
taken from a vehile parked
in a driveway on Coleman
Street.
The thefts occurred
between 6 and 11 a.m. on
Saturday, Jan. 23.
Anyone :with any
information. can call

quantity of cosmetic jewelry
including earrings,
necklaces, tie•tacks and bars,
money clips, keychains and
pocketknives.
The Mount Forest OPP
identification unit dusted for
fingerprints and took
photographs. Officers are
still investigating and ask
anyone with information to

for seniors through school
programs. Those people are
not as likely to get as ill with
the flu but it's very easily
spread. Awareness is one of
the best ways to stop. it from
spreading," she says.
