Refreshments will be•seroed. . • For more information call: (519) 348-9080 Three people were taken to hospital Jan. 20 after a car driven by 21 -year-old Tracy Ryan of Cambridge failed to:stop for • a sign on Concession 4/5 of McKillop Township, striking a truck driven by Elizabeth Glanville, 48, of RR 4 Walton who was travelling south on County.Road 12 at about 8:55' .m. Glanville received minor injuries after her truck tipped over into the ditch. Ryan received major injuries and_"a passenger in.her 'car, Tim Troyer,- 20, of Seaforth received minor injuries. No one was wearing seatbelts. , SCOTT PHOTO High school preparing for new provincial system BY TRACY JESSOME E cpositor Co-op Student September. 1999 will see the introduction of a new school system at Seaforth District High School and across the province. - We will have a four-year. high 'school program with. changes in. the number of credits and how they will be granted. This is all a part of ,the secondary school reform put in place 'by the prpvindial government. This program will start with the Grade 9 students that will be attending SDHS in 1999 and I each yelar it will change with this group of students. The destreaming system nowin place started. in September 1993 when all Grade 9s were in the same program. Now we will he streamed into "applied" and "academic" courses. • The changes that the Grade 9' students will see next year in Septeinber are in their . core 't:o•urses.. Academic or applied will`he the two choices .in - the .following classes: English, ' Math, Science: French and Geography. Open courses,- are ourses:are physical and health -educatlion and itiaegra.ted arts (visual arts. musical and drama). This'mt±aris only one level will he offered. • -. High School this past week in ,support of this Worthy cause. We were also pleased to have Barb Elliott in every Tuesday morning and afternoon to do relaxing massages for our residents. Roll call was -answered by nine members. Minutes of the last meeting were given by Betty Hulley. We will have a food booth at the fall fair again this year. We will also be making another quilt again this year to sell tickets on. Committee for the plowing match is Olive Papple, Helen MacKenzie. Marion Gordon. Treasurer's report was given by Hielen MacKenzie. The meeting was turned over to Viola Lawson and Gladys Doig. Gladys gave the motto and Viola gave a reading. The next meeting is Feb. 9 and will be held at Olive Papple's. Lunch was served by the hostess Betty Hulley, Marjorie Claus and Thelma Dale. • Hiscox and Rev. Jane Kuepfer.
