general the relationships
between the seniors and
elders runs very deep.

remind everyone "of the
pressure our teacher put on•
us to get good pictures and
stories. It didn't matter -that
the schedule and work load
from that alleged nine -hour
class meant never seeing the
inside of a couple other of
our classes. we -had to'
produce good, solid
material.
1 knew_that's where the
story was and (looking back
now, it's hard: 10 believe I
could be that dumb) crept
past that ' first police
barricade we had come
across. using parked cars :to
hide myself.
I got back onto the street
below the apartment
building where the sniper
was, directly across from the
residence.
I've never felt the same
kind of adrenaline rush and
fear combination since and
hope never to again. It was
almost an electric feeling
and I could feel my legs
turning rubbery again as I
ran faster than I've ever run
before for the front doors of
that residence, all the while
imagining 'a gun being

1 also got my story --that
police and security.
communications were non
existent and that more than a
handful of student .lives had
been at risk.
The sniper?
He never existed. It was a
combination of a domestic
disputein air apartment
where the husband was
known to -have a gun, a car
backfiring a couple. times,
and neighbors ..that
overreacted. .
But the fear we -all had felt
that night was real and I
can't say that I ever wantto
feel that way again. ;
Sure, it's a fun story -.to tell
now but :will I ever let
another person make me feel
Compelled ' to do something
that foolish again?
Never. ' .
A major life -lesson was
learned that night--byea lot
of us.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP Huron Hospicc_is in the
process of reorganizing the Bereavement Support Program being offered
to the "community. During this time of reorganization. the Bereavement
Support Group which has been meeting at Maplewood Manor the first
and third Wednesday of each month will be discontinued and will be
replaced with a 12 week Grief Recovery Outreach Program to commence
• in early April Watch for further information regarding this Program. If
