Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Munn of town, has started a dental
practise in Seaforth. Jim is well
known to many. friends here who
wish him every success. -
The regular meeting of the league
was held Monday evening. The
meeting was' in charge of Miss Nellie
Boyle. The topic was given by Rev.
Mr. Sinclair entitled "Looking Glas-
ses” which was very. ably given. The
program consisted of a duett by,Mrs.
Sinclair, and Mrs. Joynt, a violin
selection by Chas.' Pearce, instru-
mental by Gladys Luker and a solo
by Mr. Wm. McLean which were all
very much enjoyed.
CHISELHURST PLAY A. BIG
SUCCESS
The play put on by the young
people of the Chiselhurst League in
the Town Hall Tuesday evening en-
titled ;el Can't Afford It"' drew a
crowded house. • The play was well
rendered, each doing their part
splendidly. The young people of
Chiselhurst are to be congratulated
on the talent they showed in per-
forming the play. Miss Jessie Parks
gave a well rendered solo that was
much appreciated.. The Hensall or-
chestra playedselections between
the acts. The ' proceeds amounted -
to $100 and will be divided between
the Chiselhurst and Hensall leagues.

Hensall on Tuesday,, April 7tli. A
parade of the prize winning animals
will be held on Main St. after the
judging. A number of valuable
prizes are being donated by merch-
ants of the village.

the Brucefield Lodge visited the
Hensall Lodge of Oddfellows and
exemplified the second degree in a
very able manner which called' forth
great praise' front the large number
present. In turn the fourth degree
was put on in the way of a delicious
lunch and s ,

joyed by all the members. Such
gatherings create an added inter-
est to the lodges.

grandfather the : late Charles Stein-
hagen, Sr., on Sunday. -

held in the Lutherian church next

Mr. and Mrs. T. Kiunipp and Mrs,
C. Kellerman spent Saturday in

Charles Steinhagen, Sr., one of.
the earliestpioneers of thisdistrict
passed away Friday morning at his
home here. Mr. Steinhagen was in
his 85th year and had been in good
health until about two weeks ago
when he contracted gangerene which
proved fatal. . He was born in Ger-
many on January 7th, 1840 and
came to Canada in 1869 with his
wife who predeceased him 33 years
ago. He leavesto mourn' his loss
one son, Charles of town and three
daughters, Mrs. Slinn of Regina,
lefrs. J. Davis ,of Exeter and Lena at
home. The funeral was held on
Sunday afternoon, conducted by
Rev. Bruer.

Thames -Road
The. Parks Committee are plan-
ning for a good time this year in
the line of sports. They are ar-
ranging to erect a new stand on the
ball grounds. They also purpose to
do some draining and levelling of
the grounds. A number of improve-
ments were made last year, Fin-
ancially the year was a success and
ended with a neat surplus in the
treasury. The committee as secur-
ing information as to the cost of
putting in some equipment for the
amusement of the children.
Mrs. John Ballantyne last week
underwent an operation for mas-
toids at London hospital. She is

The Mountain Boys of Crediton
Evangelical Sunday School spent a
very pleasant social evening in the
Foresters Hall on, Monday, March
30th. A splendid program was
given by the boys after which the
officers for the coming year were
elected as follows: President, Clin-
ton Morlock Vice Pres., Royal
Gaiser; Sec'y, • Irwin Finkbeiner;
Treas., Earl Heist. A soft ball team
under the captaincy of Royal Gaiser
was also organized and the Moun-
tain Boys are prepared to meet any
team. picked from any one Sunday
School class whatsoever.
The Women's Mission and Aid
Society of the Evangelical church,
Crediton held their annual business
meeting on Thursday, March 26th.
They report a very prosperous year.

when the "Buds of Promise" class
of the Evangelical church met .on
Saturday evening, March 28th at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mclsaac

a most successful social evening on.
Friday last. There was -an excel-

packed. A very fine program was
given consisting of numbers by the
orchestra, two amusing dialogues, a
quartette and community singing.
Mr. J. M. Southcott gave a short
traveIlogue. Rev. Mr. Thompson
ably filled the chair. Refreshments
were served at the close.

Little Margaret' Hern, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Melville Hern, is,
quite ill with pneumonia with nurse
Rinn attending her.
Mrs. Harvey Squire went to Strat-
ford on Saturday to spent a few
days at the home of her brother,

Miss Elsie Gunning returned home
from the hospital last week and is
convalescing every day.

HURONDALE
The Hurondale branch of the Wo-
men's. Institute held its March meet-
ing at the home of the president
Mrs. A. J. Ford on Wednesday after-
noon of last week forty ladies being
present. Roll call was answered by
"How 'can we make our Institute a
help to ourselves and community."
Rev. F. E. Clysdale gave a splendid
address on, "Citizenship"' giving us
valuable information along the line
of temperance. Mrs. A. Dougal gave
a pleasing piano solo and a song by
little Miss J1ysdale was enjoyed by
all. Refreshments were served by
the committee in charge. The next
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs, B. Williams April 29th and is
known as Grandmother's Day. There
will also be a contest in buttonhole
snaking'..;
