A report to a London paper states that an oil syndicate Is being formed in the vicinity of Mitchell. As there are strong indications of oil being found near Mitchell an option has been taken on 1,000 acres of land about two miles north of the town and sufficient capital has been rais- ed to start drilling the first well in a couple of weeks. Robert Jurwerra, who was arrest- ed in London about three weeks ago with a young girl of minor age from Dashwood, was sentenced in Goderich on Saturday and was giv- en six months to one year for seduc- tion and three months to six months for abduction in the Ontario reform- atory, the sentences to run concur- rently. The case cause up before Magestrate Reid. About 30 boys and girls have joined the classes of the school of. religion in James Street church this week, pursuantto a careful consid- eration and study of the meaning of the Christian lite, and the privileges and duties of church membership. The class meets in the lecture room each afternoon at 4.30. James St. promises to have a splendid class for church reception' on Easter Sun- day. The Young People's League of Main St. Methodist church held its annual meeting on Tuesday evening March 24th and thoti,gh the evening was very, wet there was a large at- tendance showing the increasing in- terest in the Young People's work at Main St. Tlie reports all showed that the officers have been faith- fully discharging their duties and that the meetings have sustained the interests of the Leaguers.
