CELEBRATE, GOLDEN WEDDING
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs.
Thos. • Murdock congratulated them
on Tuesday on the oceasion of their
fiftieth ' 'wedding anniversary. Mr.
and . Mrs. Murdock were married on
St. Patrick's day, 1875, and have
been residents of Hensall, for most
of that period. Mr. Murdock is one
of the best known men in Western
Ontario and his many friends are.
wishing him and Mrs. Murdock, still
many' years of happy married life.
Their children, were all present, Mrs.
(Dr.) Campbell .of Toronto, leaving
for her home Tuesday evening.

People's League Monday night there
was a full house. A real Irish pro-
gram was' given and the basement
was prettily decorated with Irish
emblems: The president, Miss. Viola'
Higgins presided in a most capable
manner: The program was as fol-
lows: Miss Scarlett and Miss Nellie
Boyle sang pleasing solos while Mr.
Passmore and Mr. Hess delighted the
audience with their music. Mr. Ed-
ward Little played a fine cornet
solo; Miss Elva Shaddock and Miss
Hattie Whiteside, gave humero us
readings which were enjoyed' by all.
Rev. A. Sinclair gave a very inter-
esting address on. St. Patrick; Miss
R. Hudson gave a pleasing instru-
inental; Miss Viola Higgins and Mise,Nellie Boyle sang a duett which was
enjoyed ' by all. Mr. G. Sutherland
was then called on and gave a very
interesting address with some good
Irish jokes mixed in. The 'proceeds
which was for.league work, amount-

John F. Brown was borhin' Bay
ersbronn, Germany, July 5th 1841,
and died March 16th, 1925 in
Lon-
don, Ont. at the home:f his
son-in-
law -and daughter Mr. and Mrs.Gid-.
eon Bier, where- he lured a -carefree
and comfortable life. I3e came to
America in early life, locating in
Stephen,' Tp. Twenty -three years
ago Iz,e retired from farm life and
moved to Crediton where he resided
until 5 years ago. He reached lie
golden age of 83 years, 8 months,10
days. He became an ernest Christ-
ian in his .,youthful days joined the
Evange ical church at Crediton and
remained a faithful, - prayerful and
conscientious member toe the end.
He held various offices in the church
and Sunday School and soughto

live an influential' and ' useful life. '
Although he had the great misfor-
tune of losing his eyesight about 9
or ten years ago yet his vision of
things spiritua was bright and clear
He is survived by his sorrowing
companion, 1 daughter, son-in-law,
brother 2 grand children and many
other friends and relatives. The body
was laid to rest at the Evangelical
Cemetery, Crediton, on Wednesday..
