Insurance will cost Catholic board less in 1999
BY GREGOR CAMPBELL
Expositor Staff
Next year insurance will
cost $7,955 less than it does
now for the Huron -Perth
Catholic District School
Board.
The board approved a 1999
general insurance premium
of $53,025, 16 per cent less
than for 1998, when it met
Nov. 23 in Dublin.
After consistent premium
increases in recent years "it's
nice to see it not just level
off, but drop down again,"
Ian Fisher of Lawson -Killer
Insurance reported to
trustees.
The new policy also
includes "significantly higher
limits for less than you paid
last year, the insurance
company representative said.
He termed the hoard's "loss

experience very good."
The decreased premium
includes increased corporate
indemnification coverage
and a $3 -million increase in
liability coverage to $15 -
million frons Frank Cowan
Co., Ltd.
Administrators told trustees
the board office has been
brainstorming on potential
problems associated with the
"millennium hug," when all
computer chips might not he
able to handle the switch to
the year 2000.
Fisher told trustees to do an
inventory of buildings and
check that vendors have
addressed the problem. and to
"get it in writing."
He said for school systems
the biggest problem with the
"hug" might he only the
"nuisance" of some re-
programming.
