Before Christmas, however, comes Advent a season of dark before the light of Christmas. This Monday will mark the first of three when we will start our week with a ceremony of lighting the advent candles. Students will watch the lighting of the first candle via the in-house TV network. This week we will celebrate reconciliation and students will have the opportunity to attend reconciliation with one of either pastors irorn the paFishes of Huron. On Dec. 1, staff will have an early evening mass followed by a dinner to celebrate the promotion of Ray Conois to the position of Superintendent of Schools for Huron -Perth District Board. This mass will allow staff to celebrate as a community of faith and at the same time welcome the season of Advent and eventually Christmas. This week we will have our Semi -Formal Dance and students are busy preparing for the event with staff. It's always such a wonderful thing to see students dressed up and looking so adult. Congratulations to the directors and casts of "An Evening of the Unexpected." For those who attended it was great to see such a diverse presentation showcasing the talents of so many. Design classes, technology students, drama classes and all who worked as co -curricular participants produced a wonderful result that portrayed the energy and spirit that has become a hallmark of our school. There is a rumour that springtime will provide us with a musical we won't soon forget. As we enter this rapid, rushing season of shopping and card writing, visits and more, let's not forget what the point of the season is. by Philip McMillan S11111a1Frill YOUR S}IOPPIHG DOLLAR MOIIEY SAVING COOPONS ONE DAY ONLY RIME TO BRING YOUR COUPONS r CHRISTMAS SHOPPING? —I Drop by Seaforth Co-op Up to SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5th 0/ on entire stock 0 With coupon * excludes sale items Save Cash & carry R Home L r Sills Home Hardware MAIN ST. West of the lights beside Mac's 527-0180 VVORTIII,I SS THE HURON EXPOSITOR, DECEMBER 2, 1996-7 SCHOOL SPIRIT - was encouraged at the local high school last week by a visit from Cameron Hughes. `Superfan' visits SDHS On Wednesday Nov. 25, Cameron 'Superfan' Hughes visited Seaforth District High School with a message of spirit. As the gymnasium filled up with students from grades 9 to OAC, he reminded us students at SDHS what a great school we have and showed up how to maintain a high level of school spirit. Cameron is known for touring sports events, such as hockey and baseball games. From the Ottawa area, he has worked for such teams as the Toronto Blue Jays, Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. Seaforth recognized him as a "super freak" rather than the superfan. Hughes also told the students at SDHS that we should not be afraid to be who we are inside as well as outside, and to just be ourselves, not to be who someone else wants us to be. On Thursday, Nov. 26, Mrs. Wendy Case, an educational assistant at SDHS, left our school to take on a new challenge. Case has accepted a short term position in Huron County Elementary Schools, to assist English as a second language students. Mrs. Case has been at SDHS for the past six years. She was worked in the CLN class room, resource room, and many other classes in the school. Case attended SDHS when she as a student in high school. As a replacement for Mrs. Case, Mrs. Joan Morgan will be moving up to full time, Mr. Gilbert Pinkney will be half- time Educational Assistant. Mr. Price will be devastated that his Sonny has left. For those of you who don't know what is meant by that, last year Mr. Price and Mrs. Case went into an air band competition together as Sonny and Cher. Maybe they could do it again next year. On behalf of the students and staff at SDHS, we would like to wish Mrs. Case the best of luck in her stew position and we hope to see her back in the fall. by Tracey Jessome Many helped with float Many helped put together the wonderful float entered in the parade last Friday night.
