Students record local history
BY SCOTT HILGENDORFE
Expositor Editor
Members of Seaforth's
senior community and
students from Seaforth Public
School have worked together
to create a multi -media record
of the community.
The idea began from the
Seaforth District Museum
Committee which is working
on preserving local history.
"The committee just
realized we're losing many of
our seniors with their
memories of Seaforth and
somc•of Seaforth's history,"
said Nancy Kale of the
committee.
They approached Seaforth
Public School last year and
found a class of students
interested in meeting and
interviewing members of the
senior community.
They contacted several
seniors who were willing to
let the students come into
their homes to question them
about their memories of the
town.
While it was originally to
he a video taped interview,
the students used a multi-
media computer program that
has allowed them to take each
person's voice, photographs
and information and combine
them into an interactive walk
through the community's past.
Each person provided a
different glimpse of the town
with personal stories and
photographs they gave to the
students to use.

• Formalize an arrangement
with the existing provider - set
up a contract agreement,
• Open a competitive hid
process under a "request for
proposal" for service in the
municipalities, and choose
one, or:
• Assume the direct
provision of service -
essentially have municipal or
county employees run the
ambulance service.
Huron County's
Administration, Finance and

recommended to county
council that "staff be
