Knights of Columbus
remember brothers
A large number of local
Knights of Columbus
members gathered at St.
James Church in Seaforth on
Saturday evening, November
7. The occasion was a
memorial Mass remembering
their three deceased brothers
who died during this past
year.
Leo Hagan, Harry Hak and
Clarence Geoffrey were
remembered and honoured.
Following the Mass, a short
eulogy was given by a family
member for each deceased
brother. The event concluded
with a social time for family
and friends with coffee and
cookies being served.
The "Community Builder
Project". happening Sunday
evening at the St. Columban
School gym saw a large
number of people of all ages
gather. An enthusiastic
volleyball game provided
excitement for several
participants while tables of
euchre and hoard games were
also enjoyed. Everyone is
welcome to participate. Bring
your own pop and a clean
pair of running shoes.
The St. Columban-St.
Patrick's Fundraising
Committee is sponsoring a
family turkey bingo on
Friday. Nov. 20/98 at St.
Patrick's Parish Hall. Dublin.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Let's
support our local schools.

Mary Eckert at "The Pines"
in Chatham on Sunday.
Jini and Jannekc Murray
have recently returned from
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
They spent a week there
attending a convention. The

Soccer Association is
sponsoring a euchre party
Friday, December 4, 1998 at
7:30 p.m. in the St. Patrick's
Parish Hall, Dublin.
Everyone welcome to attend.
Visiting with Karen and
Gerry Ryan, Jason, Amanda
and Jeremy were Karen's
aunt and uncle, Marie and
Claire Oldham from London,
Ont.
Joe and Pauline Pendergast
and Mary Jane, from Aylmer,
visited recently with Joe and
Helen Nolan in St.
Columban. Joe and Helen
visited with their daughter,
Marg and Steve McAuley.
Alissa and Nolan McAuley
of Denfield.
Corporal Joe Ryan from
Winnipeg, Man. surprised his
parents Ron and Mary Ryan,
St. Columban, with an
unexpected but welcomed
week-long visit. He will
return to Winnipeg Nov.
15/98 where he works as a
mechanic at the Canadian
Armed Forces Kase there.
Joan and Steve Sararas,
daughter and son-iri-law of
Eleanor and Ray Maloney
shared a one million dollar
lottery prize with three fellow
workers in a draw held Nov.
4/98. Eleanor and Ray
accompanied them by limo to
Toronto to Princess Margaret
Hospital to claim their
winnings.
Auxiliary ary gives $.5,000
The November meeting of
the Legion Ladies Auxiliary
was held last Wednesday
with 31 ladies answering roll
call.
The team of euchre players
who participated in the
district tournament at
Palmerston where 40 teams
were entered, came in 20th
but had a good time.
Donations to the Children's
Aid Christmas Bureau of
S300 and a donation to
Branch '156 of $5,000 were
approved.

Westcott told something of
his memories of growing up
in Seaforth but also of diaries
he has written by his father
and his father's twin brother
who was killed in the first
world war 80 years ago, last
September.
Westcott was presented
with a framed picture of the
high school by President
Linda and Mayor Dave Scott'
presented Shca with the
Seaforth game.

how pleased he was to be in
Seaforth for the first time and
to be able to make a
presentation of the Ontario
Heritage Foundation
certificate of achievement oto
Frank Sills.
Frank made a touching
reply. Congratulations to
Frank from all your
comrades and friends. We
enjoyed your song.
Sunday church parade was
held with a parade led by the
Brussels Pipe Band to St.
Thomas Anglican Church.
During the service the lesson
was read by Padre Errol
Skillender and Peg Coombs
sang "In Flanders Fields".
The colour party was under
Sgt. at Arms Gordon
DeJong.
Lunch was served after the
parade at the branch.
The parade to the cenotaph
on November 1I will leave
the branch at 10:20 a.m.
Those presenting wreaths
please pick 'them up at, the
branch prior to the parade.
At the going down of the
sun and in the morning we
will remember them.
Legion holds Remembrance service
On Nov. 8, Hensall Legion
held its Remembrance Day
Service at Hensall United
Church conducted by Rev.
Pam Tolmay and Rev.
Graham. After a parade,
wrcaths and crosses were
placed at the cenotaph.
The Province of Ontario
wreath was placed .by

The Remembrance Day
Banquet will be held Nov. 11
at thc Hensall Community
Centre at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 21 there will be a
euchre tournament and pleat
roll beginning at 1 p.m. at the
branch. On Nov. 27 a poor
boys lunch will be held at
Hensall Legion. You may eat
in or take out.
The Hensall Legion
Auxiliary held its meeting in
the Legion Hall on Nov. 4
with Iva Reid presiding.

given to thc Huron Adult
Day Centre.
The Hensall and District
Horticultural Society will
hold its annual potluck
dinner on Nov. 16. This
meeting will take place at the
Hensall United Church at 6

p.m. The society is supplying
turkey and ham. and
members arc asked to bring
side dishes, casseroles and
desserts. This year members
arc asked to bring their own
mug for coffee or tea.
Members are asked to wear
red or green in honour of
Christmas.
The guest speaker will he
Marlene Munn who will
discuss the Plowing Match
Beautification Project. There
will he a special surprise.

There will be no service
held at Hensall Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Nov.
15 due to the anniversary
service at Hcnsall United
Church.
Hcnsall's Kids' Club
(before and after school
program) will be hosting a
full-day P.D. day program -
Friday, November 27th (with
adequate participation).
Program will be available
from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kids'
Club is a program licensed
by the Ministry of
Community and Social
Services, and is located at the
Hensall Public School (Room
I).
