Sporties learn about horseshoes
Oct. 14th the Sporties were
hosted by Frank and
Claudette Elliott, where they
learned all about playing
horseshoes at the Horseshoe
Club.
Oct. 21 the Sporties
ventured to the Vanastra
indoor pool accompanied by
some family members to
learn about water safety and
have a good swim. We have
been busy with our club
because of our great leaders.
Oct. 28th the Sporties are
going to the Seaforth
Bowling Lanes.

Sheila Jibb as leaders started
Oct. 7, 1998.
The club is called "A
Sporting Chance" and our
name is the Staffa #1
Sporties.

On October 9, some
residents went over to the
fall fair. They looked
around at the different
exhibits. Murray Rolinson
especially liked the horses.
Diane Muir was our escort
to the fair.
Many residents went home
with their families for

Elliott went to her son's
place for the weekend. She
had a wonderful time with
her family.
Isabel Murray also went
out for a Thanksgiving
supper and met her nephew's
fiance. Isabel had a
wonderful time.
Some residents enjoyed a
lovely turkey dinner here at
the Retirement Home.
Geri Fashions came to the
Retirement Home on Oct. 13
with a large display of men's
and women's clothing. They
held a fashion show at 1:30
p.m. Models were Agnes
McClinchey, Antje Veldhuis,
Florence Elliott, Mae Rock,
Barb Shannon and Murray
Rollinson.
On Oct. 16, Phyllis and
Ken Rennick from Monkton,
did a sing -song for us and
then we had a Bible study
'with Phyllis. We enjoyed
!this very much and we look
forward to thcm both

residents activities fund.
The Craft and Bake Sale will
be from 1-4 p.m. Everyone
is welcome.

The Hensall and District
Horticultural Society's
Thanksgiving decorating
contest winners are: first
prize, Jane Glenn; second
prize, Jennifer Roth; third
prize, Luanne Phair. Carol
Steckle was the judge for the
contest. At the October
meeting of the Hensall and
District Horticultural Society
it was announced the potluck
supper will be held at the
United Church on Nov. 16 at
6 p.m. Ham and turkey will
be supplied by the society. A
successful plant auction was
conducted by Brad
Mousseau. Anyone wishing
to help prepare the village
flower beds for winter should
contact Liz at 262-2715.
Hensall residents are
reminded that parking is
prohibited on village streets,
between the hours of 2-7
a.m. daily. Effective Nov.,
vehicles will be ticketed.
"Week of the Child"
activities have concluded for
another year. All the events
were enjoyed by the children.
A reminder that programs
must be returned to the
municipal office or library by
5 p.m. this Thursday.
