Local committee to host brochure swap
The business retention and expansion
committee confirmed at a recent meeting that
it will take responsibility for organizing next
spring's Huron Tourism Association brochure
swap, to he held at thc arena in Seaforth on
March 31.
The association has a brochure swap every
year, each time in different parts of the
county.
Paul Nichol said "it would be an
Opportunity to show Seaforth off to the fine
dining and bed and breakfast operators in the
arca, which may lead to some positive
spinoffs," according to thc minutes of the
committee's meeting.
Bed and breakfasts also concerned another
recent business retention and expansion
committee meeting.
The lack of them in town led to a lengthy
discussion.
"The need for overnight accommodation in
Seaforth is becoming more immediate every
day," according to that meeting's minutes,
"particularly with 70 school board employees
working in Seaforth, and not all living here;
the Doig subdivision in the works and the
owners' plans to market it to people from the
greater Toronto arca; and other developments
in town.
"Not to mention the number of visitors that
come to Seaforth every year for weddings,
funerals, special events and sports
tournaments," those minutes continue.
The committee discussed possible locations
and potential operators of a bed and
breakfast. It was suggested that the Huron
Business Centre be advised of -the need for
dining and accommodations, and that it begin
looking at existing restaurants and bed and
breakfasts or inns to see if any would
consider expanding operations into Seaforth,
absence of president Linda
Gridzak.
The results of the vote on
the new bar hours will be
reported as soon as the bar
committee gives the date
they will be implemented.
