Gth road to success
z'r alma -295 under construction,
the FITss f 98 will prevail
By Kbn'Jamieson
First off I would like to thank
my fellow graduates for giving
me this honour to represent
them here tonight. Thanks guys,
1 hope you can hear my knees
knocking right now
On behalf of the SDHS
graduating class of 1997-98. 1
would like to welcome here
tonight our families. teachers,
friends and honoured guests.
Well here we are again, back
in the gyri where we were first
welcomed to this school and
respectively so. gather here tonight to say our goodbyes
and go our separate ways. Our high school years have
come to a close and we now stand at the dawn of a new
frontier. SDHS has prepared us for whatever may lay
ahead and I am confident that we will succeed, even
though the road to success is always under construction,
we will prevail.
We are very fortunate to have attended Seaforth District
High School and I am veru pmud to say that 1 have
graduated from here. because there are not many high
schools that you can go to and every teacher that you
have ever had be able to call you by yourfirst i
believe that is one of our school's greatest and special
qualities. You were never another face in the crowd. you
were treated as an individual. That is: with the except in
of Grade 9.
We all new that the first day we walked into Grade 9
that we were on common ground. "Grubs" we were
ultimately at the humiliating mercy of the seniors. But as
the years passed. we earned the respect of the teachers
and ves even of the. seniors. Strong friendships were built.
first loves came and went, we laughed. we cried. we lived
and learned. Above all wetaught each other about
ourselves.' Our memories are now a kaleidoscope of
sacred treasures that will live in out hearts forever. I
would like to read a poen that was given to me by my
sister and'is appropriate here tonight. 1t is called "Come.
People..
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls fo dance.'
They awaken us to new understanding with the passing
whisper of their wisdom,
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in cyarjadailrdwhile, leave footprints on our
!warts. and ►'e are never, ever the sante.
SDHS has touched our hearts and we will carry our
memories with us always. The future is upon us and we
are now facing new and challenging endeavors. and we
can Handle anything that comes our way because we are
well-prepared.
We must remember to stay true to ourselves and to
believe in the reality of our dreams hecausc thejourneyin
between what we once were and who we are now
beco ring is where they dance of life really takes place. 1
would like to take this opportunfry to thank our teachers
and mentors, you have given us guidance and knowledge
and now we must spread our wings and we are forever
grateful. To our families for their continuous support and
love. it means more to us than we could ever express in
words. And finally to us. the graduates. we are everything
we are because of each other. In closing. 1 am going to
read a poen by Amanda Bradley that touched rnv should
and in turn I hope it reaches yours. it is called "Our
Dreames Are Withing Our Reach."
Within our reach lies every path we ever dream of taking
Within our power lies evert step we ever dream of making
Within our sight lies every joy we ever dream of seeing
Within ourselves lies eyervthing we ever dream of being..
Thank you.
