party
Residents enjoyed a lovely
summer afternoon as guests
at Bill Gibson's "Annual
Garden Party" held outside
of Hensall.. Everyone
marvelled at the beautiful
flower gardens in his
backyard and took a turn at
feeding the goldfish in the
lily pond.
Following musical
entertainment provided by
Bill, a varietyof desserts was
served and pronounced
"delicious" by all. We really
look forward to this event
each summer
Another outing. this one a
bus trip to Bayfield, was also,
popular with our residents. A
tour of the marina to view the
many sailboats was followed
by a relaxing drive around
the village to see the ,many

street. Refreshments were
enjoyed at the village park.
Mtisical entertainament for
August was provided by Paul
the Fiddler, Marian Rose and
the "Nptes of Yesteryear".
We were also delighted to
have summer church services
conducted by Rev. Dino
Salvador, Rev. Judith
Springett, Rey. Bill Hauser,
Rev. Rob Hiscox and Elly
Van Bergen.
Our Baking Club whipped
up banana muffins which
were served following bingo.
Men's "Pizza and Pub" night
has become a favorite
monthly event for our
gentlemen.
Looking ahead to
September we are looking
forward to an outing to the
PHOTO SUBMITTED
"Thresher's Reunion" in
Blyth on September 11 th, our
Golf for Heart and Stroke
Tournament on Sept. 17th as
well as our "Western Week"
celebrations highlighted by a
"Country Music Concert by
Jack and Irene Vincent" on
our front lawn. (Raindate is
Sept. 24).
Aikenhead reunion brings family back
The thirteenth annual Jack
and Reta Aikenitead reunion
was held on Sunday, August
16th, at the Stanley Township
Pavilion with 29 in
attendance.
Several games and races
were held with the following
winners: running races: 5 and
under Hayley' Hunt, Jordyn
Oesch and Carter Hunt; 10
and under Corey Hunt. Kory
Petrie and Colleen Willert;
over 10 men. Daniel Hunt,
Ervin Willert and Corey
Hunt; over 10 ladies Jodi
Petrie, Bernice Petrie anfl
Krista Hunt, 10 and under
kick the shoe. Kimmy
Broadfoot, Kory Petrie and
Corey Hunt; over 10 kick
and shoe. Daniel Hunt, Ervin
Willert, 'Gorey Hunt; 3
legged race. Diana Hunt and
Krista Hunt, Joyce Willert
and Bernier Petrie and Jodi
Petrie and Colleen Willert;
balloon toss, Jodi Petrie and

A candy scramble was
enjoyed by the kids.
A delicious potluck supper
was then enjoyed by all.
Other , award winners
included: youngest person,
Stac'y Lynn Amy Willert;
oldest person, Joyce Willert;
first to arrive, Jim and Donna
Collins; coming the furthest.
McCall family 'celebrates 40th reunion
and Joan Perrie:
Happy Birthday was sung to
Joan Perrie whose birthday
was that'day. Mention was
given to Betty Lair whose
birthday was the day before. A
humorous card was signed for
',,Jack McCall's 50th birthday
which was on August 21st.
A moment's silence was
observed in memory of John
Perrie, David Perrie and Allan
McCall who have passed
away recently.
The afternoon was spent
visiting and a prize was given
to Mary McCall who won the
guessing contest.
• Favors were given to
everyone. Next year's reunion
is planned for the third
Sunday in August, keep this
date open.

It was a special event on
Sunday. August. 16, 1998
when the annual McCall
reunion celebrated their 40th•
anniversary at the Walton
Hall. '
A sign made by Isobel and
Frank Burke was put up
behind the dessert table where
the special decorated cake was
displayed along with all the
other delicious desserts.
Jaak. McCall welcomed
everyone then asked Torrey
McCall to give grace followed
by a bountiful smorgasbord
meal at 12:30 p.m.
Later, Jack conducted the
business with Doreen McCall
reading the minutes of last
year.. Thirty five guests signed
the book. The first gathering
was much smaller 40 years
ago with the families of the
late Wm. McCall held at the
Goderich Park.
The officers for next year are
President, Marion Young;
Vice -President, Debbie Blake;
Secretary -treasurer, Doreen
McCall; lunch tables, David

was deeply saddened by the
death of a very special lady.
Cindy Maloney died on
August 14th as the result of a
car accident. Heartfelt
sympathy of the community is
extended to her parents, Leon
and Mary Maloney; to Cindy's
brother Chris and his friend,'
'Angela Poppe; to her sister.
Sherri and husband Brad
Buchanan and their sons, Blake
and Lane; to her sister. Kim and
fiance Tim Buchanan; to her

grandmother, Elizabeth Klaver.

We will all greatly miss Cindy.

WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT
Katrina Patricia Lindemann and Brent Hugh Dietz were uni ed to
marriage on July 11, 1998 at six o'clock in the afternoon at St"Peter•›
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen, with Rev. Martin Malina officiating.
Katrina is the daughter of Klaus and Colleen Lindemann of Seaforth,
and Brent is the son of Hugh and Doris Dietz of Bornholm.
The maid of honour was Jennifer Watt (friend of the bride)
Bridesmaids were LoriLynne Campbell (friend of the bride), Lynn
Kittmer (friend of the bride) and Syluie Ledermueller. (friend of the
bride)..
was Kent Gilbert (friend of the groom) Groomsmen were
Mark Dietz (brother of -the groom), Kurt Lindemann (brother of the
• bride) and Shane VanAllen (friend of the groom).
Reader was Michelle Lindemann. (sister-in-law of the bride) • The
organist was Margaret Whitmore.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held 'at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres with Rob and Clare Badley as Master of
Ceremonies.
The couple honeymooned by Algonquin Park, and .are residing at
R.R. 8 1, Walton.
Katrina -and Brent would like to thank their family and friends for
making their day so memorable.
