SXPOSITOII, AUGUST 1 S, 1111111-11 Clinforth Dairy Club tours area farms Our farm tour started out at Ulmer Holsteins, just west of Mitchell. The owner Hans Pfister showed us around his spacious 60 head farm. We were shown the set-up and system. What was unique was there was no equipment on the premises. It is all kept on a neighbouring lot. Next it was ontt ' Ibwynn farms where tht 'k 90 head of cow, V1 , ere shown the cowl( ,ystem. What was interesting was this farm docks the cows' tails, which is becoming common in large freestall setups. Just a little further was the Lansinks farm where they milk 150 head in a parlour. We were lucky enough to view a mod- ern rotary parlour system. Dr. Bert Logan's tie stall is a short drive away on the out- side of Tavistock. Dr. Logan and his wife milk 38 head in a tie -stall operation. Logannlane Farms has some • outstanding cows and is com- pletely family owned and operated. Upridge Farms is just a short drive away. Charlie Luppton milks 75-80 head in a tie -stall barn. Something unique is that the barn used to be a free -stall and the Lupptons tore down the barn and converted it to a tie -stall. On behalf of the entire club I would like to thank all of the hosts of the day for doing such a great job showing the group their facilities.
