Lakers try partnership
to revive their midgets
In a move to provide area
minor hockey players an
opportunity to expand their
hockey horizons. the Huron -
Perth Midget 'AAA' Lakers
have entered into a partnership
with the Stratford Cullitons.
Under the agreement. the
Lakers name will be changed
to the Stratford Huron -Perth

sponsored by the Stratford

First on the agenda for this
new partnership is the search
for a new head coach along
with a coaching staff.

with experience within the
hockey ranks," noted Lakers
Director Ken Crawford. 1.1f
someone came with a contin-
gent (of other coaches) comes

boys the opportunity, if they
aspire, to play junior hockey,"
explained Huron -Perth Lakers

"There are nothing but posi-
tives for anybody that plays
with dreams of playing better
hockey."
Cullitons President Paul
Smith echoed Crawford's
remarks.
"The major bonus for us
will he the development in our
own region." noted Smith.
"It's a win-win situation for us
and 1 can't wait to see the first
puck dropped."
Last season the Midget
Lakers couldn't field a team
due to lack of interest. This
season the Cullitons. through
sponsorship. will 'ensure that a
midget team represents this
region.
An agrcctncnt that will
allow midget players to he
called up to join the Cullitons
has also been signed according
to Smith.
"They're a grcat organiza-
tion." noted Crawford. "All
systems arc go right now."
The partnership will com-
mence with the start of thc
1998/99 hockey season.
