/
MCCALL, Allan Elmer: Alcan
McCall passed away peacefully at
his residence, R.R., *3, Walton on
Monday, June 15, 1998 following e
brief illness. He was in his 80th
year. Allan was bom on July 23,
1918 on the farm where he farmed
and resided all his life. He was the
son of the late Wiliam and Letitia
(MacArthur) McCall. He married
Elizabeth F. (Betty) Currie on
November 20, 1947. Allan joined
the Western Star Lodge *149
Brussels on February 2, 1950.
Lodge activities in the Independent
Order of Oddfellows became' an
important part of his life. He eventu-
ally held positions as Noble Grand
and Past Noble Grand. In 1960 he
joined the Mapleton Encampment
in Listowel (which is now with
Brussels Lodge), and ultimately
became Chief Patriarch in 1966.
Later he moved on to a higher
order, the Cantons (which are now
located in Exeter), and his last rank
achieved was Lieutenant. He waS
also a member of Duff's United
Church in Walton. Allan enjoyed
the outdoors. his family, friends and
his special dog. Allan was a pas-
sionate hockey fan cI the NHL,
especia ,, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Allan will be sadly missed by wife
Betty, a daughter Bev Stevenson of
Walton • and grandsons Ron and
wife Nicole Stevenson of Walton,
Chris Stevenson of Walton and
fiance Laura Cousins of London. He
is also survived by a dear sister
Clare Perne of R.R.*3, Brussels.
and many nieces, nephews and
cousins. He was predeceased by
his parents, brothers George, Jim
and and infant John. and sisters
Hattie Snell and Mary Young and
• son-in-law Tom. Visitation was held
at the Betts Funeral Home Brussels
on Wed. 7 - 9 and Thurs. 2 -4 arid
7 -9. An Oddtellows service was'
conducted by Westem Star Lodge
+1149 on Wed. at 9 p.m. Rev. James
Murray officiated at the funeral ser-
vice on Fn. June 19 -at 2 p.m.
Comforting words from Rev. Randy
Banks were received and read by
Rev. James Murray. A heartfelt
eulogy paying tribute to Allan's life
was given by neighbour and friend
Alex Macdougall. Pallbearers were
neighbours Ian Wilbee, Emerson
Mitchell, Dale Bachert, John
Huether. John Brown and Bill
Young. Flower bearers were
.nephews Barry. John and Doug
Currie. Interment at Brussels
Cemetery. As expressions of sym-
pathy memorial donations may be
made to Duff's United Church
Walton, the Heart and Stroke fund.
