Pearl McKnight 509, Russell Ferguson- 442, Allan Johns -400. - At Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev. Roben Graham waswelcomed as the guest minister. Dorothy Taylor was the organist for the Communion Sunday Service. Rev. Graham's sermon was "The Oracles of God". Rev. Graham also san-g a solo. Communion was served by Harry Moir, Bob Taylor, Bob Bell, and Al Hoggarth. Next Sunday there will be a coffee hour following the service. Best wishes are extended to Hensall Nancy Fraser. The Hensall and District Horticultural Society will be holding a garden walk and. house tour on July 11 and 12. Shirley McAllister had a special children's time.at. Hensall United Church: Their hymn was "Jesus Loves The Little Children:. The lector was Barb . Gackstetter. Clarence and Earla Coleman were the greeters. Jean Jacobi accompanied Belva Fuss and Rob Gackstetter as they sang a duet. Rob also sang a solo. The ushers were Bill Fuss and Ian McAllister. Chuck Mallette also helped with the Ministry of Song. The sermon was given by Shirley McAllister. Hibbert United was mentioned in prayers. The United Church will be closed -during July. Rev. James Murray will be available if needed. Registrations are still being accepted at the Hensall Municipal Office, for Hensall Summer Playground, and Hensall • Playground swimming program. Information regarding these programs is also available from the Municipal Office 262-2812. Les Greenwood of Parkhill (second from right) received the Trilllium Award at the Seaforth Community Centre on June 17. He is the square dance caller for Clinton Wheel 'N Dealers. The award is the highest honor that can be presented in the square and round dance movement in Ontario. Making the presentation are: (left) Peter and Bev Piazza of London (presidents of SWOSDA) and Bill and Sue Ann Harris of St. Thomas. representing the Ontario Square and Round Dance Federation. SCOINS PHOTO Canoe trip was a big hit at Queensway Queernsway's annual canoeing and fishing trip to Gaschos pond was - definitely the highlight of our week. John Pepper said. "1 can't believe I waited till 1 was 96 to go canoeing". Nancy Louch, Mildred Gingerich, Elsie Johnson and Lorna Spencer also braved the waters in the canoe and had a great time. Many tried their luck at fishing and when they returned to Queensway. there were lots of fish stories to tell. Murray Howe landed three fish. John Pepper, Everett Gallagher and Walter Smith all reeled in two a piece. There was more than enough exciting things happening to keep everyone .entertained. Close to 40 residents and volunteers enjoyed a delicious supper of salads, hotdogs, and five kinds of pie finished off with cream soda and ginger alc. By popular demand we may- have ayhave to make a return trip. in August. Also, not one mosquito appeared. ' Staff and their children joined residents Tuesday night for an' evening with Marg and Dickie Dean, magicians. . Their sleight of hand tricks as well as pulling birds out of thin air kepi everyone mesmerized for the entire show_ • . Residents had as much fun •watching the reaction of the children as they did seeing the show: Harvey Smith and Doug Insley combined their talents to provide ,r super evening of music in the retirement home lounge for Friendship Friday. Library summer reading program beginning As the summer arrives. the Huron County Library is gearing up for the 1998 -- Children's Summer Reading Program being held 'in 13 library branches across the county. The theme of this year's program is "Reading Takes You Places!", the aim of which is to encourage children to continue the adventures of reading throughout the summer months. All children -ages. five to 12 are invited to •take part in this exciting hour-long program which involves stories, songs. games and crafts that will take them for adventures across Canada: around the world. into space, and even through time. Elisabeth Ball and Jackie Fisher. the Summer Reading Program Coordinators, will present "Reading Takes You Places!" during the months of July and August at the various participating library branches. The summer program is .made possible through the support of the Huron County Library -and by a grant from the Summer Career Program through Human Resources Development Canada.
