A long line of children waited to have their faces painted Wednesday evening at Walton Public School's fun fair. Bottom Popcorn - Students enjoyed popcorn, one of the many treats at the fair that featured games and pony rides for students, friends and family. In too deep - Sarah Gordon patiently tried to get a fish to bite in the fish pond at Watton Public School's fun fair held last Wednesday evening. Grace Drummond, president. welcomed everyone and read, "Why I fired my secretary." The members answered the roll call with their favorite spring flower and only one had to pay a pin fine. Grace Drummond had a humorous story. Grace Eyre gave a "smile." Helen MacLean read a pocm. "Out of Time." Dorothy Bell gave us a true story of an escapade that happened on one of her trips. She introduced the guest speaker, Laurie Shapton. Shapton had a most interesting and informative talk on her trip to India. Her pictures also showed the great contrasts of the rich and poot and the luxury and drudgery of the people. • Everyone has to work in the field or home. harding, working, milking and other tasks. The hotels where Shapton stayed were wonderful but outside the walls was much poverty. Many of us didn't think we wanted to go to India, but Grace Drummond looked quite unique in Laurie's Sari. Mona Alderice conducted a contest. Women's institute sees ice work Seaforth Women's Institute went on a mystery tour. We started at the Iceculture in Hensall. They have sculptures in ice going all over Canada. We had lunch at Heywoods and a short meeting. Roll call was answered by 10 members and one guest. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Betty Hulley. Treasurer report was given by Helen MacKenzie. The August meeting will be at Gladys Orog's. Members are to meet at O live_Papple to gdto the picnic The group needs help in the country kitchen for the Oct 22 London area convention. Helen MacKenzie had the motto, "water." The meeting was adjourned. Members also toured Bluewater Recycling.
