D'ART
A showing of student art
work with the ambiance of a
quaint cafe was held at the
Seaforth District High
School, June 9. Left to
right are some of the 15
artists whose work and
organization was featured:
Julie Hansen, art teacher,
Jessica Burgess, Tama
Smith, Karen DelVecchio,
and Kendall Schenck. At
least 50 people came to
view the work, while $70
was raised in donations to
support the art program at
SDHS.

Auxiliary had their meeting
on June 3 in the Legion Hall
with President Iva Reid in the
chair.
Weddings coming up for
the summer were discussed.
One team is to go to the
Strathroy Bowling
Tournament on June 13. Two
delegates are to go to North
Bay to the Auxiliary
Convention in September.

Horticultural Society met on
June 10 at Northside Church.
Members car-pooled to the
Dublin area where they
toured local gardens.
The first was the home of
Mary and Harry DeLoyer.
The flowers were just
beautiful and iht: vegetable
garden so advanced
The second farm was Ar )e
Vogel's where, along with the
gardens, they saw a Dutch
windmill.
The third farm was the
home of Cor and Nellie
Vander Pryt. They have their
own park. The trees have
been planted since 1967.
After viewing the lovely
gardens, they held a short
meeting.
Arthur Horst thanked
everyone for their help
planting the boxes.
Eleanor announced the
flower show on August 12
and Rea Hamilton will be
with them on Sept. 9 to talk
about cooking with herbs.
Nancy Kale reported on
the bus trip of July 22. They
will go to Colosantis's
nursery in Leamington,
Greenview Aviaries at
Morpeth, dried flowers at
West Lorne and supper in
London.
Thc meeting was

served a delicious lunch.
4-11 sheep club
stomach lessons
The second meeting of the
Huron 4-H Sheep Club start-
ed with business. The meet-
ing took place on May 27 at
Florence Pullen's.
The members talked about
the sheep's stomach, what to
consider before buying sheep
and advantages and disadvan-
tages of different lambing
times. They also played Win,
Lose or Draw.

The Friendship Circle of
Hensall United Church met
on June 1 at 4:30 p.m. for a
tour of the IceCulture
installation. After a most
interesting tour they went to
Shirley McAllister's new
home for a pot luck supper
and meeting. 13 members
answered the roll call by
telling something they would
like to do this summer.
A bale of good used
clothing will be packed on
June 8 at 9:30 p.m. It was
moved by Ann Annen and
seconded by Kay Elder to
sent a donation to the
Children's Aid in Goderich to
send one or more children to
Camp Menesetung this
summer.
Helen MacLean was in
charge of the program and
she read a poem entitled
"Start Your Smmer With A
Smile." She then read a
humorous skit entitled
"Goodbye."
Kay Mock told about how
Shirley Shirley McAllister
has been a special leader of
the Friendship Circle an Kay
Elder presented her with a
remembrance from all the
members.
At Hensall United Church
Jeremy Thomson played a
musical prelude.
Evelyn Elder gave the
welcome and
announcements. Warren
Elder gave the call to
worship.
A skit by Jeremy Thomson,
Sarah Stoll and Laura Elder
was enjoyed, followed by an
anthem. Funds for the
Clearwater project were
dedicated and accepted by
Shirley McAllister.
A family picnic followed
the service.
The best wishes of the
community go to Cecil and
Joyce Pepper as they
celebrate their 40th
anniversary.
Laura Elder won the Huron
County Historical Society
prize at the Hensall Spring
Fair.
Hcnsall Parks Board is
offering a Smart Serve
Training Program on June 24
from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at
the Hcnsall Community
Centre. It is a training
program for beverage servers
to promote skills of
responsible service.
Interested persons can
register by phoning the
municipal office at 262-2812
or the arena at 262-3206.

assaults
bill
collector
An assault took place on John
Street in Seaforth at about 1
p.m. on June 2.
"This occurred when a person
attended to a residence to collect
money for an outstanding bill."
Ontario Provincial Police report.
"He was struck once in the body,
left and notified the Seaforth
police office."
A 26-year-olil John Street man
"was arrested and taken for a
bail hearing due to other
outstanding criminal charges."

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Town of Seaforth adopted Official
Plan Amendment No. 11 on the 9th day of June. 1998 under section 17 of
the Planning Act. This amendment now requires the approval of the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
Pu_rnase and Effect
Official Plan Amendment No. 1 I has the following purpose and effect. The
proposed amendment affects Lots 110.116. R.P. 393. in the Town of
Seaforth (Coleman and Crombie Streets). The purpose of the proposed
official plan amendment is to change the designation on the subject
properties from 'Industrial' to 'Residential' and from 'Inner Flood Plain' to
'Residential'. A corresponding zoning by-law amendment would change
the zoning on the subject property from 'Light Industrial' (M1) to
'Residential Medium Density (R2)* and from 'Inner Flood Plain (IFP)' to
'Residential Medium Density (R2)'.
AND TAKEN NOTICE that any person or public body is entitled to
receive notice of the proposed decision of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs
and Housing, if they submit a written request for notification to the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The adopted Official Plan
Amendment will now be submitted for approval to the Plans Administration
