"That's what happens when
you lose your focus.
Everybody (ries to do loo
Much. •-
"You can't do that at this
level."
In the first 40 minutes St.
Columban was in control.
playing a good looking and
quick give -and -go. all over
the London squad. They kept
them stuffed in the fat end of
the field near the forest.
Brian Malady booted home
Steve Ryan's rebound about
five minutes into thc game.
then defender turned half-
back/forward Jim O'Reilly
got his first two goals of this
season - the first a header off
a well-placed Steve Ryan
cross at about the mid -way
point of the lust half. then by
using his foot for his second
strike about nine minutes
later.
The three -goal lead for tht-
young home team appeared
to he a comfortable cushion.
and its .three-ganie losing
streak to start this season
seemed almost just a had
memory.
Meanwhile.- the White
Eagles just kept playing their
game. which was nothing
much to write home about
and hadn't .amounted to any-
thing to this point in tante.
• GOODNIGHT IRENE
Bat then they got two quick
goals. and the game turned
into something else.
..The. visitors got their first
with a relative softy about
three minutes from the end of
the first half. then yet another
on a penalty ("Cheap." says
Tony) .shot at about the 45 -
minute mark.
So all of a sudden it was
just 3-2 for the locals at the
half. The momentum was on
another set of feet.
St: Columban was rarely in
the attacking end of the field
for the remainder of thc
game. and when they were
they didn't stay too long.
The White Eagles equalized.
early in thc second half.
Then they got another. and
another, and yet another... and
won it gang away.
Some of the tackles gut
nasty, both ways.
Both teams were down to
10 players by thc'final whis-
tle. with one red card apiece.
Arts said he didn't think it
was a ease of his squad los-
ing their legs. which is what
it looked like lot fans on the
sidelines.
it was their focus that went
missing in action. .
The coach said his players
started worrying too much
