Siren sound
The "sewer sucker" was
making the sound, like a
siren in the distance, that
could be heard all over
Seaforth on Friday.
What made the noise is a
big vacuum -cleaner on the
unit. it sucks the assorted
gunk out that slows down the
sewers, a public works
department employee
explained.
Board declares
Seaforth land
to be surplus
Slightly less than an acre of
land along Highway 8
through Seaforth has been
declared surplus by the
Huron -Perth Catholic District
School Board.
Superintendent of busi-
ness/treasurer Gerald Thuss
says this is a first step in a
"detailed process" that could
lead to the parcel, zoned
commercial, being listed on
the open market.
The parcel fronts the high-
way, three blocks cast of the
lights, between the restaurant
on thc corner of Coleman
Street and residences on the
south of thc road. it is one of
three parcels in the same
spot, totalling seven acres,
owned by the board. The rest
of the field isn't considered
surplus and will stay the
same.
'The declared -as -surplus
process means the district
public school board and gov-
ernment get first shot at the
particular property if they so
desire. if not, then "for sale"
signs could go up on the par-
cel.
got to go visit this weekend
with Peter and Scott Murray.
Next weekend the village of
Walton ,will be the place to be
as the town is holding its
annual June garage sales.

worshippers at Duff's United
Church on May 31st. With'
this being Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost ,day in Jerusalem".
The June 14 service will
begin at 11:00 as it is
anniversary service with
guest speaker Mr. Gary Allan
Price who is a member of the
group sponsoring John
Davidson of Jesse's Journey.

Next year marks the begin-
ning of the Co-operative
Education at St. Anne's. In
addition to the traditional half-
day placement, the program
will offer a unique, all -day co-
op experience for students
throughout Huron County..
Students provide their own
transportation to and from the
placement and are monitored
regularly.
Employers should consider
the following reasons to par-
ticipate in • Co-operative
Education. The student work-
er will help to get work dont
and not require payment. The
student can offer a fresh per-
spective and share with you
the things that they have
learned in their courses. The
employer gets an excellent
chance to check out'new
employees.
Students learn on the job
and become more aware of
career opportunities as they
benefit from on the job train-
ing. It provides you a chance
to share what you know and to
contribute to an enriched edu-
cational process. This pro-
vides you an opportunity to
put back into your community
some of what you have gained
without making a cash dis-
bursement.
Religious Retreats arc a
yearly event at the school.
This year Grade 10 students
went to Midland and visited
the Martyr's Shrine. They
attended a Eucharistic
Celebration and went to the
historic St. Marie Among the
Huron.
