for October 4.
Charles • Regele.

planned in conjunction
with the Huron County

County.-
The
ounty.The tour is scheduled to
officially take place on that

times and the extent of the
tour is still uncertain. Host
dairy.•pork. emu, and horse
farms have been arranged,
while the a sheep farm
remains a possibility.
Regelc explains ideally. "a
garden to show agriculture
hands on" would help to
increase understanding and
participation in agriculture.
He emphasizes the
importance of agriculture
in Huron County. "the tour
will be entirely a family"
event because farming
needs io be explained to
children as an important
industry." Regelc and his
committee feel certain that
a tour promoting good.
health and participation in
agriculture will draw a
'crowd exceeding 500
people. but the exact
numbers are still only
guesses based on past
years. Contingency efforts
arc in place to ensure that
alternate routes are offered
to avoid everyone on one
tour at the same time.
Multiple tours will be
offered concurrently to
ensure active participation.
Possible stops on the tour
include a sugar bush and
the._ Hullett Wildlife
Conservation Arca.
however these stops arc
not planned for the tour
thus far.
Regele explains. based
on prior meetings and
records of Secretary. Carol
Leeming. "this tour could
end up being more than an
afternoon tour of local
farms." A country supper
is planned to end the tour,
after which it is likely
"everyone will go home
tired and ready for bed."
A meeting is planned
next month. Confirmation
of the host farms. times
and the number of
participants anticipated
will be discussed.
Developments of this
meeting should confirm
some of the unknowns
attached to the tour- in its
early stages of planning.
