- SEAFORTH BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT
ASSOCIATION
-The Business•Improvement-Association (BIA) is an asso-
- elation of Seaforth business people. who join together to •
-promote their mutual benefit, particularly through
increasing.salcs and profits. The municipality collects a- -
special levy from the businesses in- downtown and turns it
'icer -to the BIA to he used for local improvements.
The principal. function of the BIA is to improve business,
which it does"by improving the physical environment in'
the downtown. -and through economic redevelopment of '
the local husincss community through arca-wide promo-
tuua and advertising. - -

of special events during the course of a.year.. Community

SEAFORTH SCOUTS
Scouting has been practiced in the Seaforth area for
many years. •Thc 1st Seaforth Scouts have four groups
for different ages of boys and girls.
Beavers arc for children ages 5-7 years. They work
with a leader on games and crafts with the theme of
sharing. For 8-10 year olds; there's Cub. --ho learn
about camping and outdoor skills. Scouts dye chil-
dren ages 1.1-1.4, with the option to contin • his
section until their 16th birthday. Thc • • «• .ue with
camping and outdoor skills. and also t..:.., about
canoeing. Venturers arc for children 14-18 years.
They operate with minimal supervision and make deci-
sions on their own activities. Thc Venturers get away
on weekend camping excursions. they participate in a
variety of social. cultural and spiritual activities. as .
well as challcngingpiysical and outdoor-activilies - - -
(.uhsand Scouts have annual fundraisers which
include Apple Day. Bottle Drive. and the Fishing .
Derby
The Registration takes place in early September. For

Grounds. Featured events are viewing of home craft. bak-
ery. several horse. sheep. cattle and pig shows. as well as
a•midway and exhibits in the Community Centres.
FARM TOY AND DOLL SHOW - -December 5 At6..
1998 - Another event that the Agricultural Society spon-
sors. with each show in it's own building. This show
attracts exhibitors from all ,over Ontario and parts of
