VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers arc a Town's greatest resource. The Seaforth
Recreation and Parks Department wishes to thank the
many people that volunteer. Without volunteers many
programs and services would not exist. If you are inter-
ested in volunteering please call the Recreation Office at
527-0882 and we can send you in the proper direction.
SEAFORTH CITIZENSHIP AWARDS
In the fall of each each the Seaforth Recreation and Parks
Department receives nominations for our annual awards.
The Awards are divided into 3 categories:
1.SERVICE TO SPORTS - A person that volun-
teers his or her time to sports organizations, or sports in
general in Seafonh.
2.CIVIC SERVICE - A person that belongs to
service clubs or community organizations in which he or
she contributes many hours of time for the betterment of
the community.
3.HUMANITARIAN SERVICE - A person who
is considerate of humankind. and is.willing to give his or'
her time to help other people.
Winners for these awards are chosen based on the individ-
uals contribution to the community in a VOLUNTEER
CAPACITY. Anyone may nominate an individual for any
category by submitting a letter with background informa-
tion and Why you feel they deserve the award. All nomi-
nations can be mailed or dropped "off at the Seaforth
Recreation and Parks Department. The Awards are pre-
sented at the BIA Christmas Dinner. This is our way of
saying thanks, so submit the name of a deserving person.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
- • SEAFORTH MINOR BALL
The Seaforth Minor Ball Association offers a complete
ball program, for boys and girls beginning with T -Sall,
ages 5 and 6 year olds and Houseleaguc, ages 6 and up.
1f your child wishes to play on a travel team, Boys and,
girls teams are available from Mites (9 and 10 year olds)
to Midgets (ages 17 to 19). Registration will be held at
the Seaforth and District Community Centres April I & 2,
1998, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm each night. Volunteers to help
coach, or just drive the children to their games are always
needed. Without volunteers, Minor sports would not hap-
pen. Seafonh Minor Ball would like to thank the Lions
Club and the Town of Seaforth for providing the use of
their fine ball diamond facilities, at reasonable rates.
SEAFORTH MINOR SOCCER
Seaforth offers HOUSELEAGUE SOCCER to children
ages 5 to 12 years old. Every Wednesday evening at the
Optimist Park the children gather together to learn a few
basic skills of soccer and then play a game.'Ages 5 to -7
will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Children 8 to 12 years
will play from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. The low registration fee
of S12.00 gives your child 2 months of soccer action. If
your child is' interested in playing soccer please call the
RECREATION OFFICE AT 527-0882. Volunteers are
needed. '
.SEAFORTH LAWN BOWLING
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club numbers over 50 , almost
equally represented by men and women. It's a game all
ages can play. The season runs from approximately the
end ofMay to the end of September. There is a very rea-
' sonabte seasonal membership fee to join. Interested
members of the public are welcome and encouraged to
come down to the bowling greens when members arc pre-
sent 10 try their hand at this enjoyable sport. Members
howl on Monday and Friday afternoons and Tuesday -and
Thursday evenings on the 18 greens. The necessary
equipment is minimal:a pair of Hat shoes. white clothing
(although a solid colour is permissijle if your partners arc
wearing the,same colour), and a set of bowls. Interested
howlers are free to use the Clubs bowls. ,so it's not neces-
sary to purchase a set immediately. Members arc wel-
come to play in other clubs anywhere in the province or
country.; Lawn bowling offers good exercise, a pleasant
outdoor atmosphere and friendly competition. For more
