The Huron Expositor, 1998-03-25, Page 25You' Annual Recreation Booklet '98 -5 SPECIAL EVENTS SEAFORTH MINOR SPORTS COUNCIL BINGO The Seaforth Minor Sports Council has representation from SDHS Athletics, Figure Skating, Ringette. Junior Curling, Minor Broomball, Minor Hockey, Minor Ball. Seaforth & District Community Centres, and the Sca4orth Recreation and Parks Committee. The goal for this group is to fundraise cooperatively, and our major event is the weekly Bingo. Bingo'is played every Monday evening at the Seaforth and District Community Centres beginning at 7:30 pm. The ja,:kpof is $1,000.00 on the second and - fourth Mondays, and $750.00 on all others. During the summer months, the Minor Sports Council hosts Double Bingo. All prize money doubles on the specified dates. The3 Dotible Bingos will be held on May 25, June 29 -_-- and August 3. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Minor Sports and Community Projects. The Minor Sports Council would like to thank all volunteers that work at the Bingos, as well as all participants. Your sup- port is greatly appreciated. . SOFTBALL ONTARIO UMPIRE CLINICS Seaforth will host 2 umpire clinics this spring an Advanced Junior Development Clinic and a Certification Level t Clinic. Both clinics will be held on May 3. 1998 at the Seaforth and District Community Centres ADVANCED JUNIOR -DEVELOPMENT: This four hour clinic is designed to meet the needs of the more advanced Junior umpire. It will -otter instruction in both mechanics and rule interpretation. Ashort qui/ will he written at the conclusion of the clinic and all those who pass will receive a certificate and crest at the clinic. If you wish to participate in this clinic you must he under the age of nineteen (19), (16 to -18 years of age is recom- mended) and you must have previously taken the Junior -Develo mens clinic or this Advanced Junior Development clinic. The clinic will he held from -8:30 am to 12:30 pm. at the Seaforth and District Community Centres and the registration fee will be $25.00 per person. Please arrive in plenty of time to register. • CERTIFICATION LEVEL 1 The Level 1 Umpire Certification Clinic introduces the officials to the basic fundamentals of Softball Officiating. h is designed to train all officials as the first step in becoming a more competent official. This clinic will cover such material as the role of the umpire. dress and equipment, rules and definitions. code of ethics and basic mechanics.
