The contest will now be held in Seaforth Branch 156 on March 29th at 9 a.m. Come out and hear the students from Zone CI com- pete. If you hear of any member of the Branch who is in the hospital or confined at home with a serious illness or injury, please let Mary DeJong, committee chairman 522-0474, Thelma Coombs 527-0562 or Gwen Harburn 527-2257 know, then no one will be missed. If we don't let the committee know they can't do their job properly. Seaforth Legion by Barbara Scott e The Branch recently received a letter of thanks for the $500 donated to District G to help veterans victims of the ice storm in Eastern Ontario. The Zone CI Spring Convention will be held on March 22 in Kincardine. There will be another of the popular Fish Frys on April 18. Tickets are $9 each. All you can eat. Only 110 tickets will be sold. There will be karaoke, meat draws and horse races as well. Knitting for plowing match Seaforth Women's Institute held their March 10 meeting at the home of Helen MacKenzie. President, Doris Hugill welcomed everyone and read a poem "Marbles of March". Opening Ode and the Mary Stewart collect were repeated. Roll call was answered by 10 members. Minutes of the meeting were given by Betty Hulley. The treasurer's report was given by Helen MacKenzie. April annual meeting will be a din- ner at the Seaforth Manor. Quilt tickets will be made. The three 4-H clubs will be ▪ receiving $25.00 each for a total of $75.00. Jean Keyes gave a report on the nominating committee. Legion ladies make a couple of donations Hensall by Liz Sangster 262-2715 The Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary had their meeting in the Legion Hall on March 4 with Iva Reid presiding. A donation of $50 was made to the Hensall Fair Board. $800 was donated to Hensall Legion. Sports officer informed members of several bowling tournaments in Goderich, Strathroy and Seaforth, one team to go. A discussion was held on banquets coming up in the near future. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev. Kevin Steeper's message was 'Bearing Fruit". The ushers were Harry Smith and Bob Bell. March 22 will be Communion. Shuffleboard scores were: Hugh McKay 501, Hazel McEwen 462, Ina Williams 442, Dave Woodward 375, Doug Insley 370, Pearl McKnight 319, Edna Dietz 315. At Hensall United Church interim minister Nancy Fraser conducted the service. Mark Garlough was organist. Mona Alderdice was the greeter. The ushers were Janice and Garry Alderdice. Dave Campbell looked after the elevator. The lector was Ross Kercher. Flowers in the church were in memory of Gordon T. Munn. Don't forget the Drop -In on March 19. Call Marg Cole at 262-2304. If you want to join the church by transfer or have a christening at Easter call Lillian Beer at 262-2722. The church office is closed from March 16-27. The answering machine will be checked daily. The next regular meeting of Hensall Village Council will be Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. This change is due to the Easter holiday. Grand Bend 'says "yes" to gaming By a 58.3 to 41.7 per cent margin, taxpayers in Grand Bend voted yes on Mar. 6 to the question - Do you want a permanent gaming club in Grand Bend? A total of 1031 voted, with 601 for and 430 against. After the referendum, the council of the popular nearby Lake Huron beach village unanimously passed a resolu- tion to approve the use of Grand Bend as a host com- munity for a seasonal charity gambling club. 1 Women's Institute We will be knitting dish cloths for the plowing match goodie bags. The meeting was turned over to Betty Hulley and Jean Keys. Betty had a reading "Celebrate Canada". Jean Keys also had a reading. Betty }Wiley con- ducted a contest. Kay O'Rourke thanked Helen for her home. Doris Hugill thanked the program commit- tee and lunch committee. Lunch was served by the hostesses Kay O'Rourke, Olive Papple and Marjorie Tickets for the Duck Race on May 2nd are on sale at the Branch and from members at $5 each. Get yours early. There will be a Sunday din- ner on Mother's Day May 10. Desserts and help will be needed for this event. Contact Ann Wood if you can help. June 6th there will be a Yard Sale. Choir socks director Betty McCall and Helen Williamson were greeters at Duff's United Church. Rev. Murray welcomed everyone and gave the CaII to Worship. The junior choir sang "The I Don't Wanna Blues" and enjoyed throwing socks (part of the song) at their choir director, Patty Banks. A little birdie told Rev. that Birthdays, visits Correspondent, Dorothy, wishes her special niece. Mary Margaret Nash, a very happy birthday March 17. Happy birthday to Mary Coyne who celebrated on March 12th. These 2 excel- lent nurses are always there when needed. Happy Birthday to Mary Barsley who celebrates at Versa Care on March 19th. Sympathy of the Dublin area is extended to Lewis Donnelly, Dorothy Donnelly and Irene Healy on the death of their sister-in-law, Velma Donnelly. (Fitton photo) New co-op student training Queensway Fun and Fitness had every- one off to a good start Monday morning as residents worked their way through their regular exercise routine. In the afternoon residents tried their luck at Bingo, sponsored by the Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Monday was also Anita Garnet's first day as a co-op student. Anita will be with us for the months .of March and April training as an activ- ity aide and retirement home attendant. Wednesday afternoon was certainly a special one for Dorothy Wi.ldfong as her family from Chatham visited to present a beautiful musical program. Three generations entertained consisting of daughter Marie Klatt, grand- daughter Heidi Toye and great grandchildren, Alex, Mark and Laura on piano, saxophone, clarinet and flute. A time of visiting and refreshments followed. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather our much anticipated Farm Show trip had to be cancelled. We are hoping for good weather for our trip to the Harmony Kings concert, April 4 in Seaforth. The week ended with a video about Princess Diana shown by volunteer Marg Cole.
