We urge you to contact any or ALL of the Board Members
and encourage them to take their time making a decision on
the future of OUR high school, and give SDHS and the
Seaforth Community some time to develop and implement a
d program to keep the school viable.
Each and every one of us:
current, past and future students; parents and grandparents;
business operators; homeowners; organisers of recreation
and community programs; service providers;
ALL OF UB!
will be impacted by a decision to close the high school.

Dear Ms. Armstrong:
attended the Avon
Maitland District School
Board meeting with members
of Scaforth Council March
10. and listened with interest
and an open mind to the
arguments for and against the
report of the Site Review
Committee which recom-
mended the closure of
Scaforth District High
School.
I urge you and the hoard
not to rush into a decision Io
close a school. I suggest to
you that, with some minor
adjustments, thc board could
function for the next year or
two with the existing office
locations in Stratford and
Clinton.

ernment is soon going to

Ontario and while a change at

impact
Dear Editor.
The Avon Maitland Public
School Board of Education
hasn't a clear picture of the
negative impact that closing
our high school would have
on our children.
Give voice to your concerns
re closure of Seaforth District

Queen's Park may not be able
to undo all the damage that
has been wreaked on small

worth the wait.
I appeal to you and mem-
hers of the board to look for
ways to keep Seaforth and
District High School open
and not for the reasons it
should close by re-examining
option la that would enlarge
the board offices at Central
Huron Secondary School and
re -align the boundaries with
adjacent schools, thereby giv-
ing SDHS a fighting chance.

Students deserve explanation on closure
Dear Editor:
I have always been under
the impression that the stu-
dents were number one prior-
ity of school trustees and the
hoard of education. that was
until now. The decision to
.close the Scaforth High
School has been made with-
out arty discussion with the
students.
When there is a tragedy
within the school there are
counselors sent into the
school to help the students
deal with it. Where was the
hoard and the trustees when
thc decision to close Scaforth
Veggie munchers
have a great time
By: Shawn Van Bakel
At Meeting #2 of the
"Veggie Munchers" our
group made Minestrone Soup
and Vinegarettc Dressing
(salad dressing) to cat after
the movie. The movie con-
sisted of facts about bacteria
and where to put your milk
products and meats.
Title pages for the covers
of the 4-H binders were cho-
sen by a vote. Then, a speech
on eating habits and prob-
lems was presented by Mike
Van Bakcl. Gorda and Helen
served the soap and salad
with the salad dressing on it:
At meeting #4 of the
Veggie Munchers Produce
Club, group members made
hcct soup. While the tasteful
soup was brewing one group
leader Helen Van Bakel gave
a presentation on the differ-
ent kinds of canned foods.
The presentation included
talking about the meaning of
quality labels on canned
food. After this presentation
was over group title pages
were handed out and time
was granted to work on them.
When the meeting came to an
end members enjoyed the
soup. The next meeting was
held March 3.

High School was made?
The students are young
intelligent adults quite capa-
ble of giving opinions and
discussing the outcome of
their school.
When i asked Mr. Carroll
why the students had not
heard from the hoard or the
trustees or if the students
were number one priority his
response was "I wasn't asked
to come to the school, but 1
will make a note of that."
Do the students not deserve
an explanation of why their
school is being closed direct-
ly from the hoard and the
trustees'? Are the trustees and
board afraid to talk to the stu-
dents directly or was it the
building they are concerned
with and not the student
body.
"1 wasn't asked to
come to the school,
but I will make a
note of that."
