Residents enjoy successful pet therapy program
During February residents
continued to enjoy the week-
ly visits of pet therapy volun-
teer Cindy Holland and her
Boston bulldog Connie. This
program offered through the
St. John's Ambulance Pet
Therapy program has been a
tremendous success. As well
residents have found our
Friday morning massage
therapy program with volun-
teer Barb Elliott R.M.T. won-
derful. We would like to
thank both of these new vol-
unteers for the enjoyment
their programs have brought
to our residents.
Our musical entertainment
for the month was provided
by Carol Carter who played
(Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home
ove songs for Valentines.
Bill Gibson who entertained
requests for old favorites and
Marian Rose who treated us
to some good old Irish tunes
in preparation for St.
Patrick's Day. Paul the fid-
dler had everyone's toes tap-
ping to some French-
Canadian fiddle tunes.
The Notes of Yesteryear
entertained for our Valentines
dance at which Roy
McGonigle, Frank Murray,
Ruby Rich, Mamie Carter
and Elizabeth Morris were
honoured for celebrating
February birthdays.
Winners of our King and
Queen of Hearts draw were
Leo Hagan and Mabel
Handy.
A warm welcome goes out
to Rev. Cheri DiNovo from
Brucefield United Church
who conducted her first
church service here. We hope
she will make a return visit in
the future. Thanks to Rev.
Nick Vandermey, Rev. Rob
Hiscox and Rev. Dino
Salvador for their services
during February. Seaforth
Manor was also pleased to
host the Seaforth Ministerial
Meeting. Residents enjoyed a
pancake lunch on Shrove
Tuesday in preparation for
the beginning of Lent.
During the past week the
nursing home has been
closed to visitors in a precau-
tionary effort to control cold
symptoms experienced by a
few of our residents. We
would like to thank family
members and volunteers for
their co-operation and
patience during this time.
Hopefully this will be a
short-term event.

Busy month of February at retirement home from baking to excercises
Well it's smooth sailing
from here on. Spring will
soon be here. The snow will
he melting and the children
will he bringing lots of mud
in the front door. However.
we still look forward to
Spring.
We had a very busy month
of February in the Retirement
Home. From baking to exer-
cises, and other activities.
Elaine Burtch has been com-
ing in to hake with our resi-
dents. Baking chocolate chip
cookies that don't last very
long. Olive Ball says "they
are a fairly good size", while
Antjc Vcldhuis says "Oh,
were they good chocolate
chip cookies". We really
appreciate all thc help and the
company you have been giv-
ing us.
We held our Valentine's Tea
Feb. 8th. Residents invited
two guests. Approximately
75-100 people attended the
tea.
Agnes McClinchey had a
great visit with her daughter
who is visiting from
Bermuda. Leona Bedard had
a great visit from many mem-
hers of her family, while
George Wright's guests and
Olive Ball's guests all sat
together and had a wonderful
time. The sunshine played a
hig role in making this a
cheerful afternoon, but not as
great as watching the resi-
dents and their families and
friends enjoying each other's
company.
At this time we would like
to welcome Janet Dalton to
the Retirement Home. We
hope you like your new
home.
We arc collecting a few
items for crafts. Any scrap
material, red and white shop-
ping hags and Zehrs tapes.

houettes could be guessed
correctly. Mary Smith was
the lucky winner.
Crokinole is becoming one
of the favorite activities at
Maplewood. Thanks to Beth

the dance with music played
by the Huron Strings Band .
Four prizes were given out

dancing up a storm. Carol
Carter joined us near the end
and is a really great dancer.
After the dance we enjoyed
fancy squares and a fruit
punch.
Happy Birthday to Myrtle
