Clinton and Dick Burgess had a very difficult job as the quality of the speeches was excellent. They gave all the speakers advice on how to improve etc. Thc meeting was opened by President. SDHS All Girls Marching Band take part in Can -Am Festival by Charles Kalbfleisch Band Director The Seaforth and District High School All Girls Marching Band leaves March 12 to take part in the Can Am Festival in Myrtle Beach. South Carolina. The hand will also take part in a St. Patricks Day Parade in North Myrtle Beach, March 14, This parade will -aloe include the Burlington Teen Tour Band from Burlington. Ontario. . The Seaforth and District High School All Girls 'Marching Band has prepared three marching routines for the trip. along with two con- cert pieces. Each program begins'with "0 Canada" and the America national anthem sung by Chistiri Breen. The Beatles Marching Drill features Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday 'and a Hard Days Night. Each time featuring a different marching tormapon. This routine was featured at a University of , Western Ontario -football game half- time alftime show last October. The hand has also prepared a Beach Boys routine which seems timely after the recent death of Beach Boy Carl Wilson. The band forms the letters spelling out Beach Boys while. playing Barbara Anne. They move in the surf Style while playing Surfer Girl. The last tune in the medley is Calitomia ,Girls in which the band forms of a palm tree and finishes off by forming two lines facing thc Rash of occurrences in Seaforth audicncc. These routines choreographed by the hand director along with the help from the hand captains. The hand is taking 76 hand Members, six chaperones and 20 extra passengers. The band has had a success- ful year playing for a live audicncc of over one.and a halt million people and has appeared tin national TV and has been seen in -the US. Europe. South America and New Zealand. The hand's success has been based on a dedicated executive. a hard working tour coordinator. interested parents and a hard working tour coordinator and the excellent support of the Avon Maitland District School Board. OPP investigatearea thefts Huron County Ontario Provincial Police report a rash til occurrences in Scaterth and arca recently. • An amplifier with an esti- mated value of $400 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot at Seaforth District High School last Thursday. Mar. 5. at approximately 1:15 p.m. • Between 6:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on the same dt+y, a 1990 'car was stolen from the park- ing lot of Sparky's Place. Last Wednesday. another unlocked vehicle was entered while parked in its drivebvay at 78 Jarvis Street in town. A brown purse, with identifica- tion papers inside, was stolen. SDHS activities Students going `green' Last Tuesday. Mar. .i. at about 8:42 p.m. a car was stopped on Victoria Street in Clinton. The 2I -year-old Seaforth man was found to be a suspended driver for unpaid fines. He is scheduled to appear in court at Goderich on Apr. 2. Later that night. at. about 11:15 p.m., the OPP reports a 4x4 truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Seaforth arena while the owner was inside playing hockey. Keys had been left inside this truck, that later collided with a tree at 121 East Street. A 20 -year-old woman from the Monkton area, was charged under thc liquor license act, and had her dri- ver's licence suspended for • Scaforth District High School students have an exciting week ahead of them, Thc Students Council has planned an enthusiastic Friday March 13. They have planned both a 'Go Green Day' along with a 'Hat Day'. Hat Day is popular among the student body because they can hide their messy locks. Students will he asked to bring in a canned good of 50 cents to be able to wear a hat. The food and money will be donated to the food bank. Thc Go Green has been planned to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. On this day the students will be asked to dress in green, and green ice cream will be served at lunch time in the cafeteria. 12 hours, when stopped in a RiDE check on sideroad 15 of McKillop Township at about 3:14 in the morning of Mar. 1. On Sat. Feb. 28, a 25 -year- old Egmondvillc man was charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 10(1 mis ofbloodwhen the car he was driving was, stopped on Ontario St. in Clinton. Thc man is sched- uled to appear in court at Goderich on Apr. 6. On the same day, Sill's Hardware on Main Street in Seaforth reported the theft of three items with an approxi- mate value of $850 out of its garage - a gas lawn trimmer, 20" lawn mower/mulcher and air conditioner. Also on Feb. 28, a 29 -year- old Clinton man was stopped in an alleyway behind Main Street in Seaforth and charged with a liquor offence. On Feb. 27, the manager of a local food market in Seaforth reported, the theft of wooden pallets stored at the rear of the store. On the same day, a 23 -year- old Seaforth woman was stopped in town and charged with operating a vehicle with no insurance. Each contestant received a certificate and the winners Won money prizes. I st place winners will now go on to - Clinton on March 14 to the Zone C 1 contest. There was a capacity crowd in attendance.
