Fraud attempt
Ontario Provincial Police
report another attempt was
made to pass an altered OST
rebate cheque in Seaforth a
week ago Friday.
It happened at Seaforth
Grocery Store on Main Street
Feb. 13.
"The cheque was in the
amount of $976," the press
release states.
"The alert cashier who had
heard this on TV/radio and in
the local press suggested to
the male person to go across
the street and cash it at the
hank. The person was not
seen again. Investigation con -

McKillop Mutual Insurance
Company tor 43 years and a mem-
ber of the Seaforth Community
Hospital Board for 11 years.

Goderich harbour, a beacon
guiding boats to shore since
1847, may he shut down.
Ocean and Fisheries
Canada is proposing shutting
down many such lighthouses
across the country. including
the Goderich landmark and
eliminating several other nav-
igation aids in the local Lake
Huron port.
Big ships and many other
boaters now rely more on
modern navigational aids,
such as satellite -based posi-
tioning systems.
In some areas of Canada the
Cost-cutting changes are to
take effect at the beginning of
the 1998 shipping season.
