Your wedding is a few
weeks away and,
naturally, you're
dreaming of a perfect,
worry -free day. But it's true
of wedding as of anything
else: the best -laid plans often
go awry.
If you're the victim of a no-
show organist, or a record
heat wave, will you know
how to cope? Here are some
tips for handling common
wedding -day crisis:
The photographer is
nowhere to be found. Or the
wedding cake does come,
but it says, "Bon Voyage,
Aunt Claire." The florist has
dropped off six
centerpieces; you ordered

Forestall these mishaps by
getting everything in
writing. A reliable contract
should specify delivery date
and hour, and include
should details as dress
colors, frosting -flavors,
liquor amounts.

Provide all delivery people
with a map and instructions
of reaching your home or the
reception place. Confirm all
services ahead and, again,
the day before the wedding.
On the day itself, ask a
friend to get to the church
early to make sure flowers
are being delivered and the
photographer is setting up.
As a last resort, turn to back-

your pinch-hit photographer.
Send ushers to the deli,
bakery and liquor store for
missing items. (Don't wait
too long!)
You spill red wine on your
dress. Everything
imaginable can go wrong
with clothes — zippers stick,
wrinkles appear, veils tear,
buttons fall off.
Ask your salon owner
beforehand of what fabric
your dress is made, and for
tips on how to repair it in an
emergency. Then, pack a
After reviewing the
myriad details
involved in planning
your wedding, you may
decide you could use some
help.
Many women today are
busy with careers. They find
they don't have time to plait a
wedding, or a mother nearby
to help with those plans, and
find comfort in the advice of
an expert. Brides have found
hiring an experienced
consultant especially helpful
when planning a wedding out
of town. If you fall into any of
these categories, or just would
feel more comfortable with a
professional on the scene, you
may want to consider hiring a
bridal consultant. They can
help you maximize time and
money by making use of their
abundant resources and
recommending quality
services.
Many details involved in the
happy, but often hectic,
planning process can be
handled by a professional
consultant. Some consultants
offer full-service planning
from booking locations to
hiring caterers, florists and
musicians to supervising the
actual wedding. Others may
be limited to specific areas. Or
you may decide you only
need someone to supervise the.
day. So determine what you
want to have done, then
choose a bridal consultant
whose services fit your
specific needs. Bridal
consultants are there to
provide the wedding you
dream of; they handle the
details, leaving you time to
enjoy your engagement, your
family and your fiance.

The best man forgets the
ring. Or, it gets stuck on his
finger. Or, it falls off the
ringbearer's cushion and
rolls out of sight.
Generally, the best man
should keep the ring in his
pocket, not on his finger.
Secure the ring on the
ringbearer's pillow with a
ribbon — or use a fake, just
for effect.
If your ring really is
temporarily out of
commission, borrow a ring
from an attendant or a
parent, and carry on.

It could be stage fright, a

to help you choose your bridal
consultant:
• Interview more than one
consultant.
• Find a consultant you feel
comfortable working closely
with, andpne who .
understands your desires.
• Ask about the number of
weddings the consultant has
worked on.
• Request client references if
you feel you need further
reassurance about the
consultant's abilities. You
must feel confident she can do
the job.
