Ringette remains a popular
winter pastime with young
women in and around
Seaforth, and the local asso-
ciation's showcase event is
scheduled for this weekend at
the arena - a three-day annual
tournament that features free
admissio�rj,+for anybody inter-
ested irf giving the sport a
gander. -
About 250 girls on 19
teams in. all .age classes.
encompassing ages five
through 15, from Tiverton to
St. Thomas to Cambridge,
are expected.
Seaforth has four teams
entered -in novice. petite,
tween -C and junior divisions.
in addition. the youngest of. -
the lot, Our local bunnies will
put on an exhibition.

times of all the various games

this continues to he a Kanner
year for the Seaforth and
District Ringette Association.
ONTARIO GAMES
Two members of the
Seaforth Stingers, our belle A
squad that is doing so well in
Central Ontario Ringette
League competition this sea-
son- - are going to playing at
next month's Ontario Winter
Games. They are Kim
Devereaux of Egmondvi1le
and Ericka Burns of Clinton.
They earned a berth on the
Western Region all-star triple
A belle team that will he
competing at the annual
provincial Winter (lames. the
first weekend ()I' March in
Peterborough.
Both are terrific athletes.

nament against arch -rivals

becoming the Huron -Perth
representative at this season's
Provincials.
Don't het against the local
lasses either. In the main, it is
the .same group of girls who
won las( spring's Ontario
championship ih the petite A
classification, and earned a
trip around Seaforth in the
- fire truck for their efforts.
This year's tween A team is
coached by 'Marian Durst
(who is also now president of
the Seaforth ringeltc associa-
tion) and Sue Anne Van
Miltenhurg.
All told, there are about 75
young 'athletes on •a half-
dozen teams, plus the bun-
nies, registered for ringette in
Seaforth this season.
This weekend's tournament
gets underway at 4 o'clock
Friday afternoon, with the
various finals late Sunday
afternoon and early that
evening.
