On Feb. 4, SDHS will be
holding its annual Grade
eight parents night, an
evening when we show off
the excellent facilities we
have at your community
school in Seaforth.
Also on Wednesday we will
offer- tours of the school
where members of the com-
munity will be able to see the
staff and students working in
the various areas of the
school.
People will be able to view
our computer Tabs, music
room, art room, shop areas,
family studies room, science
labs and the computer
equipped library.
In addition we will be otter-

our ground breaking CD-

intended primarily for the
parents of Grade" eight stu-
dents, anyone from the com-
High levels of bacteria
E -coli comes from feces
and typically causes eye and
ear or gastronomical infec-
tions.
The group still hasn't deter-
mined the precise sources of
such high bacteria levels in
the lake.. Initial testing hasn't
been completed or a strategy
devised.
Treatment becomes more of
a concern with the high levels
of antibiotic-resistant E -coli
bacteria discovered in Huron
because they are immune to
the antibiotics commonly
prescribed.
An unexpectedly high
amount of E -coli bacteria
resistant to antibiotics has
been found in Lake Huron in
this area by SOL=VE, the
group made up of arca con-
servation authorities, the
county health unit, munici-
palities, farmers and others
interested 'in solving the
problem that became .promi-
nent last summer.
"I guess what we didn't
expect was that there was so
much," says Klaus Seeger,
chair of SOL=VE and an
inspector with the Huron
County Health Unit.

which member.
The feed was donated by
Milton Dietz Ltd. The meet-
ing ended with cheese, crack-
ers and juice. Then everyone
took their animals to their
new homes.

Computer network
continued from page 2.
Student trustee Holly Beth
Mathers, of Mitchell district
high school (MDHS), noting
that discussion indicated new
computers were being pur-
chased to provide some prin-
cipals and vice -principals
with access to the network,
asked the board to consider
what was being taken from
students to provide those
additional computers.
Superintendent Baird -
Jackson said expenditures on
extending the network were
being redirected from other
areas, noting technicians
which would have normally
been working in the Huron
district were working in
Perth.
