Council delays decision
Council put off making a
decision on new parts for
Seaforth recreation director
Marty Bedard's computer at
its Dec. 9 meeting.
"It only goes out in certain
programs, one that need a
lot of memory," the rec
director reported, and the
computer repairman "fig-
ures the mainboard is wear-
ing out and the only way to
fix it is to replace the part."
Bedard said he used this
computer "for all functions
of business" and "because
the technology of computers
is changing so rapidly, they
do not make the same main -
board as I am currently
using."
He attached a quote for a
new mainboard and a cou-'
ple of CD-ROMs, such as
Windows '95, that ran
roughly $1,100.
Coun. Michael Hak said
for that kind of money you
could almost get a new
computer these days, and a
new unit would be under
warranty
Clerk/administrator Jim
Crocker reminded council
Huron municipalities are
freezing systems expendi-
tures until they know better
what is going to happen
with amalgamation.
Council told the recreation
director to "limp along for
now" with what he's got,
and to go get some quotes
on a new computer until it
knows better where it stands
for next year's budget.
