Five charged,
transferred
Huron County provincial
police have charged five
now -transferred inmates of
the Bluewater Correctional
Institute at Goderich as a
result of their investigation
in the extensive damage
done to one of the "houses"
there on Dec. 1 and 2.
Two 16 -year-old and two
17 -year-old young offenders
from the Hamilton, London
and Niagara Falls area, and
another 18 -year-old from
London have been charged
under the criminal code
with mischief, and mischief
endangering life.
All are scheduled to
appear in court in February.

'War Museum should only be confined to military aspects
than 45 years of experience
in Ottawa that the Senate can
.be one. With this in mind, I
suggested that the issue be
referred to the Senate
Subcommittee on Veterans
Affairs. I agreed publicly
that. for my part. I would be
pleased to accept the findings
of that Subcommittee. .
The Senate approved the
resolution which permitted
the Subcommittee to review
the plans for expansion of the
War Museum. The resolu-
tions reads: "That the
Subcommittee on Veteran.
Affairs he authorized to
examine and report uoon all
matters relating to the future
of the Canadian War
Museum. including. but not
restricted to. its structure,
budget, name and indepen-
dence."
Although those ugly words
- anti-Semitism and racism -
have crept into the debate.
they were never the issue. It
was always about how much
space should he accorded for
military exhibits in the new
War Museum: secondly.
whether a more suitable loca-
tion could be found for the
proposed Holocaust
Memorial.tf not. could it
share the premises (not a
precedent. as we had more
than two museums under one.
roof :r. Ottawa before now)''
As to content. the War
Museum should be confined
only to military aspects. The
objectives of a Holocaust
museum could be much
wider in scope - hut certainly
should not be subject to
advice from War Museum
people whose job it is to
relate the story of the glori-
ous military past.
Sincerely
H. Clifford Chadderton,
