Seaforth's Recreation
Department is offering pro-
grams during the Christmas
break that begins next week.
a hockey. skills camp. crafts.
baking and swimming in
Vanastra.
The hockey skills camp
begins Monday. t MC. 22 ►
from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Crafts
for kids is also on Monday.
from r0 a.m. to noon at the
arena. Baking for the children
is the following day. on
Tuesday. from 10 to noon
and swimming in Vanastra is
slated for the following
Monday (Dec. 291 The hus
leaves the arena at 1 p.m.
You may also wish to take
ad%antagc of the extra
opportunities for free public
skating at the arena.
Unemployment
There will he an eight-
week program for unem-
ployed. out -of -work youths
in Scaforth from Jan. I? to
March 5.

If you are interested in the
re -certification only. please
call the rec office. If we get
enough interested we can run
the re -cert on a separate day.
If we don't the re -cert partici-
pants are welcome to sit in
with the standard course at a
reduced rate.

and preparation program

p.rn.. two days per week at
the business centre. north-
east of the railway tracks.
under the leadership of
Christie Messenger. One
additional morning per
week, instructors Mike
Aussem and Alison Lohh
will provide computer train-
ing at Scaforth District High
School.
The program is funded by
Huron County and the
Ontario government.

Gym problems

In any case. he. along with
coaches for all the other vari-
ous teams at the school. had
to make other arrangements.
Menary is thankful the
arena accommodated the high
school for boys' basketball
practice time.
He just hopes his hoopsters
or himself won't have to pay
for it.
He forwarded a request to
Scaforth Council through
recreation director Marty
Bedard at last Tuesday
night's meeting, asking for a
break on the $125 plus GST
charged.
Bedard recommended it.
pointing out in his report that
the recreation department
uses the high school for
many of our programs at no
cost. approximately 160
hours per year.
Council quibbled. but left it
that if the school hoard
doesn't step into'the breach,
they don't want to see the
players have to pay.
