Following the welcome and the 4-H Pledge, several arca club members were rewarded for their efforts in 4-11 beginning with the Bank of Montreal Award which was presented to David Vanden Hoven of RR4 Seaforth for having the highest score in his first year as a 4-11 Swine Club member. The Ed Watson Award is donated by Ed Watson of Blyth to the 4-H member with the champion 4-H market pig at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The recipient was David Vanden Hoven. The Huron County Pork Producers' Award is donated by the Huron County Pork Producers' Association to the member obtaining the highest score in the 4-H Swine Club. Robert was also awarded the National Trust Award, donated by the Goderich, branch for being the champion 4-H swine showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The reserve champion showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair was John Storey of RRI Seaforth and he received the Huron County Pork Producers' Award for his efforts. The Bergsma Award. donated by Bruce and Marie Bergsma and family of Londesboro to the 4-H Swine Club member exhibiting the champion 4-H gilt at the Seaforth Fall Fair, was won by Robert Vanden Hoven. During 1975, a fund was established to help provide assistance to the 4-H programs in Huron County. Sincere appreciation was extended to the individuals and organizations for their outstanding support to the "Friend of 4-H" Fund in 1997. This year's winner was Kris Hearn of Dashwood. Signal -Star Publishing of Goderich is the sponsor of the 4-H press reporter competition. The first place press reporter book was submitted by Denise Kreutzwiser of RR4 Walton. She received $15. Laurie Rodges of RR2 Goderich was presented with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce .award, from the Brussels and Seaforth Branches, for being the top judge at the Huron County 4- H judging competition, The top senior judge at this year's judging competition was Laurie Rodges and she received the Hill & Hill Farms Ltd. award. The Cargill Limited Award for the high intermediate judge at the county judging competition was presented to Carol Rodges of RR2 Goderich. Mark Salrn of Goderich was the recipient of the Hill and Hill Farms Ltd. Award for being the top junior judge at the county judging competition. The Hensall District Cooperative, Seaforth and Londesboro Branches, donated an award to the top novice judge at the county judging competition held in Seaforth in August. This year's winner was Ashley Heffer of Wingham. The Watson Home Hardware team judging competition award was presented to the top team in the county judging competition held in August. Members of the winning team are Tonya Drost, Robyn Etherington, Stephanie Munday and Derek Maloney. Cargill Limited presented a watch to each member of the Huron Sheep Club for being the winning team at the Huron County "Go For The Gold" competition. The members are James McNaughton. Derek Maloney, Robyn Etherington and Laurie Rodges. Billy Finlay of RRI Clinton was the recipient of the Toronto - Dominion Bank Award, donated by the Seaforth Branch .for being the ' champion sweepstakes showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The Hensall District Co-op donates an award to the, club exhibiting the top• exhibit .of winter wheat at the Seaforth Fall Fair. This year that award was won by the Seaforth I Club. D & D Glass of Vanastra donates a trophy to the reserve champion dairy showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. This year's winner was Barbie Miller of Varna. Elliott Insurance of Blyth presented Barbie Miller of Varna with a trophy for having the champion dairy calf at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The Huron Holstein Club Awards are presented to the 4-H dairy club members with the first and second highest score in the county. who had a holstein calf. With a score of 927 out of 1,000. the first place winner is Crista Vanden Hoven of RR4 Seaforth. The dairy club member with the second highest score in the county who exhibited a holstein calf is Sandra Schuttel of RRS Goderich with a score of 912 out of 1,000. The Auburn Co-op Trophy is donated by the Auburn Co-op,to the 4-H member in Huron County who exhibits the reserve champion 4-11 dairy calf at the Seaforth Fall Fair. This year's winner was Adrian Guntensperger of RRS Seaforth. Adrian also won the award presented by The Bank of Nova Scotia. Goderich Branch, for being the (op novice dairy showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The Teeswater/Belgrave Co-op award was presented to Shawn Ritchie for being the champion dairy showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The Maple Ridge Beef Farm Award. donated by Paul Coultes to the champion junior beef showman at the Seaforth Fall Fair was won by Corey Rintoul of RR2 Lucknow. The late Stan Jackson was a noted Hereford breeder from Kippen who left a substantial amount of money in a trust fund for the Huron County 4-H beef clubs participating in the Seaforth Junior, Fair. Each year the interest from this fund is used for prize money. Following are the recipients of the Stan Jackson Awards. Corey Rintoul exhibited the grand champion beef steer at the Seaforth Fall Fair and along with a cash prize she was presented with a watch. Cash prizes were awarded to: Jason Howatt of RR 1 Belgrave for his fourth place heifer; Bryon Ellerington of RR 1 Centralia for having the reserve champion beef steer at the Seaforth Fall Fair; Dennis Gower of RRI Centralia for exhibiting the third place steer; Brent Black of RR6 Goderich for high score in the Huron County beef clubs; Doug Johnston of RR3 Holyrood who also received a watch for exhibiting the champion heifer at the Seaforth Fall Fair; Brent Black of RR6 Goderich for having the reserve champion heifer; Drew Black of RR7 Lucknow for his third place heifer exhibited a the Seaforth Fall Fair; Sandra Alton of RR7 Lucknow who exhibited the fourth place steer. The YIS Financial Award was presented to the champion senior beef showman at the Seaforth Fair, who was was Brent Black. The Huron County Beef Producers' Award is donated by the Huron County Beef Producers to the first year beef club member with the highest score. The winner this year is Tim Wilkins of RR3 Lucknow. Heather Becker of Dashwood was the winner of the Zurich Branch of the Hensall District Cooperptive for being the goat club member with the highest score. The Kootstra Farms Award was presented to Amy Barnes of RR5 Brussels for being the novice 4-11 member in the Huron Goat Club with the highest score. The Jan Hayward Award this year was presented to the goat club member that put forth an outstanding effort. The winner of this year's award was Mike Gingerich of RR2 Zurich. The Rodney Van Engen Award was donated to the novice 4-H horse club member with the highest score:Jenna Rader of Exeter. a member of the South Huron Horse Club was the winner this year'with a score of 863 out of a possible 1000. Marcia Salm of Goderich was awarded the high point senior horse exhibitor award donated by West Wawanosh Insurance Company at the county horse fun day. The High Point Club Award goes to thc horse club with the most points al the county horse fun day. This year the Dungannon Horse Club was the winner. and the members received medallions donated by the West Wawanosh Insurance ' Company of Dungannon. The Champion Road Machinery Award is donated by Champion Road Machinery in Goderich for the high points horse exhibitor at the Seaforth Fall Fair. Receiving this ward was Michelle Dekens of RR3 Clinton. The Milton Dietz Limited Award is presented to the champion horse showman at the Seaforth Fair. This year's winner was Mark Salm of Goderich. Mark also was presented with the John Franken Memorial Trophy which is donated by the Franken family in memory of the late John Franken to the 4-11 member with the highest score in the Huron County 4-11 horse clubs. The high point junior horse exhibitor award at the county fun day was won by Sarah Broadfoot of RR5 Clinton. a member of the Saddle Sisters Horse Club. This award is donated by the West Wawanash Insurance Company. The Neil McGavin Award is donated by Neil McGavin of RR4 Walton to the 4-11 member with the highest score in the Huron County Plowmen's Club.'Gerald Corbett of RR I Exeter was this year winner with 863 points out of a possible 1,000. The Royal Bank Award is donated by the Huron/Perth Agricultural Centre of the Royal Bank in Exeter to the first year member in the 4-11 Sodbuster Club with the highest score. This year's winner was Ian Gordon of RR4 Seaforth. The Ross Gordon Award is donated by Ross Gordon of RR 1 Seaforth to the 4-11 Sodbuster member who had the best crown at the 4-H junior day at the Huron County Plowing Match. The winner was Gerald Corbett of RR 1 Exeter. Ian Gordon was also the recipient of the Townsend Tire Award for being the youngest 4-11 member active in the Sodbuster Club. The Agvise Award is presented by Mike Hunter to the Sodbuster member with the highest total points at the International Plowing Match. This year's winner is Darcy Flanagan of RR 1 Dublin. The Sodbuster leader awards are presented by the leaders of the Sodbuster Club. The first award is for the member with the top land plowed at the achievement program by a competitive plow. This award was won this year by Darcy Flanagan of RRI Dublin. The second award is for the top land plowed at the achievement program by a non-competitive plow. and was won by Robert Vanden Hoven. The Doug Kennedy Award is donated by Doug' Kennedy of. Thamesford to the reserve champion sheep showman at the Seaforth Fair. This year's winner was Stephanie Munday of RR2 Wingham. The Helen Johns Award is donated by Helen Johns. Huron MPP, to the champion'4-H sheep showman at the Seaforth Fair. The '1997 winner was Robyn Arts of RR4 Seaforth. The Old Mill Award is donated by The Old Mill. located one mile south of Blyth, to the sheep club member with the highest score. Previous winners are ineligible. so the 1997 winner with a score of 905 out of possible 1.000 was Sarah Broadfoot. Robyn Etherington of RRI Hensall was the winner of the Canadian Cooperative .Wool Growers award for having the ch.ampi.on 4-H fleece at the Seaforth Fall Fair. . The Huron County Soil and Crop Improvement Award is donated to the top club exhibit of .first cut hay at the Seaforth Fall Fair. This year's winner was the Huron Sheep Club. • The Cook's Division of Parrish and Hemibecker Ltd. Trophy is donated by the Cooks to the club with the champion white hcan exhibit at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The 1997 winner is the Huron Sheep Club. The First Line Seeds Award is donated by First Line Seeds for the 'champion soybean at the Seaforth Fair. This year's winner is the Huron Sheep Club. Bill Coleman of Kippen presented the award to the club exhibiting the champion haylage at the Seaforth Junior Fair. The 1997 winners were the Huron Sheep Club. The Russel T. Bolton Memorial Trophy is donated by the Bolton family in memory of Russell Bolton of Seaforth and presented to the Huron Sheep Club for the champion corn exhibit at the Seaforth Fall Fair. W.G. Thompson & Sons Limited Trophy is donated by W.G. Thompson and Sons Ltd. of Hensall for thc top grain exhibit at the Seaforth Junior Fair. The presentation was made to the . Huron Sheep Club. Huron County 4-11 Club Leaders' Association presented an award to the 4-11 Club exhibiting the champion corn exhibit at the Seaforth Fall Fair. This award was won by the Huron Sheep Club. The Paul Stcckle Award is presented to the Huron County 4- 11 junior member who submitted the top essay on the topic "Proud to Be a Canadian." The winner of this award was Sarah Broadfoot. The Warden's Novice Award. donated by Murray Keys. Warden of Huron County for 199,7. was presented to the novice 4-1-1 member obtaining the highest standing on the basis of awards in Huron County. Tim Wilkins of RR3 Lucknow. a member of the Lucknow Beef Club with 873 points of 1.000. received the award. Thc Don Pullen Award is donated by Don. a former • agricultural representative with - the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture. Food and Rural Affairs office in Clinton. It is awarded to the 4-H member in Huron County receiving the highest number of points on the basis of awards for 4-11 club work in 1996. This year';; winner, with 978 points out of 1.000 and a member of the Dungannon Renegade Riders is Mark Salm of Goderich. The Murray Cardiff Citizenship trophy is donated by Murray Cardiff to the 441 member in rphalkdiED on Page 17.
